First of all,Screw Darwin's evolution chart! shakefist.gif
Secondly, here's how I see it...God create human and then human evolve from primitives to civilized people.
That's how I think..

I was raised agnostic though both of my parents are pretty staunch atheists, at least my dad is. I really do believe in science.

And therefore, I believe in the theory of natural selection over time. It makes sense, conditions change, and organisms need to adapt. Sure we have gaps in the fossil record but we do have to take into account that there are so many species on Earth that died out that doesn't make it onto the record. Not every bone turns into a fossil. It takes certain conditions for that to happen. Some of these species could be missing links too. Or we could evolve from a group of hominids that aren't very different from other groups, but have enough genetic changes that it's not as noticeable. But it's more likely and proven that natural selection can work over a long period of time. Take the variations found in our population. If there was creationism, and the human race came from only two people or something like that, I don't think there would be as many variants as there are today.

Of course, the one problem with both religion and science in my honest opinion is the first spark of life. Was it really chance, or did something else cause life? I dunno, and we'll just have to find out. XP

I believe in God! I read the Bible! My mama told me that humans didn't evolve from apes. I don't believe that either. I drew a pic after reading a Bible story, I dunno why...but I did...It said "I have no worries! God will take car of me!" Yes I literally wrote that! grin.gif

QUOTE(FirePower @ Jun 11 2012, 05:12 PM) *
I believe in God, and that he (She?) made each and every creature without evolution. Don't get me wrong, I realize evolution exists, but I don't believe in it to the extent that, say, Darwin did.

First off, in order for evolution to have made any distinct seprate species we'd need the world to be millions and maybe even billions of years old, right? Well (excuse me if I'm stating the obvious), the sun's powered by Thermonuclear Fusions, tiny explosions in the sun's core. There's an on-topic point to this, honest. The Thermonuclear Fusions cause the sun to become slightly bigger and brighter each year. I'm not sure if it's really signifigant short-term (and I doubt it is), but rewind a few million years, and the sun would be too cold to support life.

Second off, many other ideas for the begining of life or the universe are based off the idea that everything occured as a result of random chance, if I anin't mistaken. Honestly there pretymuch a zillion-to-one chance of the big bang ever happening. It nearly, if not completley impossible for something alive to come from something that's nonliving. It's not exactly like we can poof a germ from a rock or anything. On top of that, you've got the insanely strict conditions that are required to support life and the fact that even the "simplest" living organisms are much more complicated than our best supercomputers. To me, it doesn't make sense that life could have started without the help of an omnipotent, benevolent creator. Some skeptics will probably argue that whenever's there's a chance, however small, there is a possibility of it happening, but to the odds are - without divine intervention - too staggering for me to believe.

BUT....
first off, there is some evidence (i dont want to waste your time explaining) that there were universes before ours, and that the universe is reocurring, combining that with the fact that earth may not be the only planet supporting life, and combining that with the fact that time never began or ended, that means that it couldve happened by random chance
Second, the first microorganisms DID NOT rely on thermal energy as much as we do, liek the ones at the bottom of the sea and the acidophiles that did lived in hot springs and such that acutally are from the heat from the earth itself not the sun, so even if your theory with the growing sun did make sense to me, theres still the fact that earth has heat enough to support life
THird, look at the supposedly high evolution rate of humans..
even if it is something like 1% being high, there are TRILLIONS of organisms that have lived on earth..
BILLIONS OF TRILLIONS if you include mico organisms... literally UN COUNTABLE...
i think those are stageringly high amounts, and just ONE PERCENT of that per generation evolving, thats an incredably high number even still, so it kinda makes sense that it only takes a few billion years to make humans... remember we only have 20k-25k genes that actually encode for proteins (according to Omixon), and we only have about twice as many as your average fruit fly, so it makes sense to me that god used evolution to create us..
Fourth off, i highly doubt the sun is growing at a rate to be able to support life from being too cold in just a FEW million years, unless you give me real numbers and proof, i have a hard time believing that...
Fifth off, creatures actually COULD come from rocks, they proved it in a lab, all you need is volcanoes, lightning, and UV rays, (and im pretty sure you need the base elements forthe amino acids), and they proved it was possable to make Amino Acids with just that.
Sixth off, you say it like humans have been around for a million years, they havent. if you put it into say about one day, starting at midnight and ending the next midnight, the world would be ruled by bacteria from sunruse until just about dusk, then after dusk creatures would apear, but humans wouldent appear til LITERALLY less than one second before midnight..

Im not saying i dont believe in God, im saying that God used evolution to create us. the facts are there, and it does make more sense to say that evolution was guided by the will of God than to say we just "appeared" like a zubat appearing in a cave...
I believe that if God did make us just appear, some creatures would STILL be appearing like that, and they arent, but creatures ARE still evolving.
Long story short, i believe that God did actually use evolution to create us.

I believe in Evolution. God, meh. I've had my share of him most my life, I think it's time I move on to something a bit more scientific.

I definitely believe in God, but I also believe in evolution. It's dumb how people say you can't believe in both. I figure my belief in God is totally dependent on faith (that IS the whole purpose, after all) yet the scientific evidence of evolution is right here under our noses. I have a friend who comes from a really spiritual family, yet her parents don't believe dinosaurs ever existed. In Genesis of the Old Testament it says that God created the world and everything in it (prove me wrong? No, I don't think you can), but it doesn't say WHAT He created. There's also several different creation-evolution theories, as well as translation errors, etc. One theory that I personally find most reasonable is the day-age theory, which describes the world being billions of years old, despite the creation of the Bible being "seven days." The word in Hebrew for "day" is actually the same word for "age," which can be many years obviously.
Because of all this postmodernist crap going around the world in more recent centuries, people are only capable of having faith in what they can see right in front of them. I personally really can't imagine not believing in a god or higher being of some sort, because there's just so much that the human mind isn't able to comprehend. What existed before the world if there is no God? But what existed before God? According to Christian/Jewish/Islamic beliefs God has existed for all eternity, a concept which the human mind literally cannot grasp, which may make a God hard to believe in.
I think that being a Christian that believes in scientific evidence has given me a wider glimpse of understanding, or whatever. I may not be able to prove that God exists, but an atheist literally cannot prove that God doesn't exist. It's not possible. Now, it's not really possible to deny evolution, either. The earth is God's history book, and that 's something i think that theists need to know. If there's scientific evidence of dinosaurs and older species and the Bible really isn't all that specific, then why can't dinosaurs have existed?
To me the whole "God" thing is way more than just "oh today i guess i'll be a theist" or "oh nevermind now i'm an atheist," etc. God is my life; i'm pretty crappy about going to church, and I don't sing worship songs or read the Bible as much as I should, but I find myself totally lost without prayers or Jesus in my life. I can't think of Christianity as a religion, but more like my own relationship with the one who died to save my life. I'm not here to preach or whatever (i'm totally against shoving the Gospel down one's throat. I hate that.) but to show that Christians aren't babbling fools all the time.
I honestly think that the question "God or evolution" is invalid, because it's perfectly reasonable to believe in both. And honestly, none of us will ever know the real truth until we die, and we either go to heaven, hell, or we vanish or whatever the heck other people believe. (was this crazy long i'm sorry i kind of get on in a rant =.=")

I believe in evolution. In many places in the world, fossils of primitive humans have been discovered and the fossils show that they are indeed similar to humans nowadays. And if there really was a God, how can people prove it?

Hello, I'm a newbie here (just joined today), but please treat me seriously.

Hello, this is Rubysongtrainer, and that up there was NOT me. It was on my account, but I myself did not post it. I have reason to believe that it was one of my brothers spamming. I only just saw this when I went to report a glitch and noticed I had two posts.

I will try not to let this happen again, which should be easier since I have my own computer now, but I will check to make sure my sibs aren't messing with me again. I apologize to anyone who took time to read and answer that post.

Now, *runs frantically off the battlefield.*

Edit: Aaaaaaand... this is a dead thread. Someone hit me please.

I believe in evolution. Sorry, but the whole "Adam and Eve" thing simply isn't logical to me. Everything started as amoeba, microorganisms etc, and then evolved over the course of millions of years to adapt and grow stronger. We evolved from apes, who evolved from mice/rats (I think...I forget that part), who evolved from fish, who evolved from microbes and the like. Evolution is logical, it has proof, and it seems to be the most realistic way. Adam and Eve is just...unrealistic. We weren't created by a god-like being or entity, we formed on the planet and developed from there. Maybe there is some god out there, but I doubt we were all created by it/him.

Just my opinion, I don't intend to offend anyone.
