Hunter's Party

A breeze of cool air hit Zach's face as he entered the Safari Zone's resort once again. He approached the counter and said, "I left my pokemon here..." He casually flashed his trainer card to the receptionist, who merely nodded and quickly gathered Zach's supplies, and handed them to him with a cheesy smile on her face. Zach grabbed his 3 Pokeballs and clipped them along his waist, accompanying the two Safari Balls already there. "I'm going to change into some more... suitable clothes," Zach called out, not even making sure that anyone had heard him.

...

As Zach and his acquaintances reached the restaurant, Zach observed its classiness, and looked down, realizing he was terribly under dressed, with him bearing just a plain, red polo and nice pants. He scratched his nose nervously, hoping none of his friends would notice. After all, he did stick out like a sore thumb, with all the younger gentlemen in the restaurant boasting tuxedos.

"Do you think you could have told me to dress nice?" Zach whispered jokingly, nudging Liz lightly. With his 5 PokeBalls clipped to his waist, he didn't even hesitate to make his way over to the gigantic buffet table, grabbing a large, silver plate and dining utensils from the end before surveying the large choices of food for him to eat. After about 15 minutes of compensation, he decided on a nice, juicy steak, a lobster tail, some salad, and a scoop of mashed potatoes and corn.

As he walked over to the table, Zach tried to avoid the glares of the richer folks in the restaurant, eying his rather giant plate. But it wasn't his fault that he was so hungry. He hadn't eaten in a couple of hours, after all. Zach approached the table, he noticed that a commotion had erupted between his friends and some rich kids. Before he knew it, Pokemon were be sent out. After setting down his plate, Zach rushed over to the group.

"Woah woah woah!" Zach grinned, a Pokeball in hand, "Don't start this party without me!"

David followed the others inside the fancy restaurant even though he wasn't really hungry. He stayed behind them because he clearly wasn't dressed for the occasion. But as soon as he saw all of the food on the buffet his eyes started racing from one dish to the other. He hadn't seen food like this since he lived with his aunt. After placing a few cuts of meat on his dish he heard angry voices and saw everyone else in an argument with some snobby looking boys.

David dropped his plate and rushed toward Kenz who seemed outnumbered. Reaching toward his belt he realized he had only the Snivy he recently caught. Looking around he saw one of the attendents walking his way. He hurried her way and got his Pokemon without tanking her and made his way to Kenz. As he dodged people and waiters he saw two more boys approaching Kenz and the original guy.

"Three on one doesn't seem to fair" David directed to them as he reached for his belt. "Need some back-up?" he said as he grinned at Kenz.

Kenz's Squad (PANE)

Noticing David out of the corner of her eye, Kenz smiled. "I would love some help," she said, a determined gleam in her eye. "How about we take this outside?" She paraded the battlers and curious onlookers outside, where a rectangular field with a flower Pokeball in the center invited the battlers.

"How convienent!" She exclaimed. Turning toward the two rich boys that had approached her, she glared at them. "How about a little bet? I win, you guys give me a TM. You seem rich enough to have a few on your hands."

The taller of the rich boys smiled. "And if we win, you do our laundry till you move out. All of it."

"Deal." Kenz shook on it with both of the boys. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's do this!"

Tyson's stomach growled at the mention of food. He hadn't been able to eat ever since he got on the jeep and with the breakdown that period only got longer. First thing he did when he arrived, however, was to pick up his Pokeballs at the counter and hope Gobi hadn't caused any trouble.

"Potas."

He turned around to see Gobi out of his Heavy Ball, much to his despair, and proceeded to apology to the nearest person in charge, handing them them his Trainer Card to pick up the remaining Pokemon.

"Oh, you must be the trainer of the Hippopotas. He's quite the cutesy." the woman smiled before returning Tyson's Pokeballs.

"Yeah, one with the appetite of a Snorlax, that is." he returned Gobi and clipped the remaining balls to his belt before thanking the woman and running off to catch up with the rest of the group.

The place was simply amazing. Several shades of classy yellow decorated the entire room, the central piece being the enormous golden chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Tables had a vast array of cutlery and glasses as well as a complicated decoration, all on top of an also golden table cover. The buffet was equally impressive with a multitude of dishes to choose from. Tyson felt the need to dress his typical black and blue jacket so that he wouldn't look that bad in such a place. Sure, it was no tuxedo but it'd do for the time being.

"Guys. Buffet. Now." at this point he was famished. The galore of dishes being served wasn't helping either. Without really waiting for someone else he left to get his share; spaghetti and meatballs, his favorite! That is, until it landed on some random guy's tuxedo thanks to a not so convenient trip. Before Tyson could even react he was being challenged to a battle which latter got the whole gang into it. As he tried to react they were already being led to the battleground.

"Triple battle. One Pokemon each." the rich guy with the suit covered in spaghetti pointed at Tyson, Liz and Zach and immediately after released a red and beige monkey-like Pokemon onto the field. His two friends followed with the release of their own Pokemon, both revealed to be... pretty much similar to the other monkey, varying in color and some slight features.

"...What the hell are those things?" Tyson sighed. There was no turning back now.

Liz reached for a Pokeball to let Greg out, but Oreo burst free and turned to face her, smiling. Liz glanced at the broccoli monkey she was facing. "I don't think you should fight, Oreo." Her oshawott gasped as if she had struck her. Liz sighed. "Fine, but be careful." Oshawott turned to face his opponent and shot a thin stream of water, hitting it with Water Sport. "Let's do this, Oreo! Tackle it!" The rich boy scoffed and complained that it was a he, not an it, forgetting to tell his pokemon to dodge. Oreo hit the broccoli pokemon square on, knocking it over. Oshawott leapt back, ready for anything.

"You're going to rue that! Pansage, use Vine Whip!" The Pansage let out three long whips from it's head and ran at Oreo. Liz watched, waiting carefully. "Jump and use your shell to block them!" Oshawott grabbed the shell from his stomach and jumped, cutting or blocking the vines, though a few hit past his guard. Oreo fell behind the Pansage. "Now, use Water gun!"

"Fine. Oniden can handle it just fine." Tyson reached for its belt but, with the thrill of the battle he picked out the wrong Pokeball and ended up releasing Lícia onto the field.

"Wait, crap!" he tried to get the right Pokemon this time, only to be told by Spaghetti-Guy that he couldn't switch now. Liz seemed to have the same problem with her Oshawott despite lunging right into attack against the grass monkey. Zach, however, was still deciding what to use and had nothing on the battleground to pair up against the water one yet. Well, both Tyson and Liz could be at a disadvantage but seeing the grass one using physical attacks on Oreo made Tyson realize that maybe Lícia wasn't that bad of a choice for this battle.

"Hey, Lícia, know that move we've been practicing for a while now? Lets put it to use. Reflect!" with a nod the Leaf Pokemon began focusing her energy and created a transparent blue barrier surrounding her allies for a short time. At least now physical attacks weren't going to be much of a threat. This left the guy with the Pansage with a worried look on his face. Lícia had just severely nerfed his main source of damage, it seemed. The rich boy Tyson was facing still retained his smirk, however.

"Such a shame that doesn't affect my Pansear's Incinerate." and with this said the High Temp Pokemon released a small burst of flames that directly hit Lícia and made her cringe in pain.

"In that case... Lícia, scatter around that Poisonpowder." Lícia shook the leaf on her head and from it numerous small purple spore came flying onto the Pansear, some hitting it and others falling on the floor. The former were absorbed onto the Pansear while the later dissipated away after a short while to avoid poisoning any other Pokemon on the field. The opponent's smirk was gone and he was getting impatient now.

"Are you going to stick with wimpy status moves or are you actually going to attack?!" he was now taunting Tyson the same way a Pokemon would use the move Taunt on an opponent.

"The best offense is a good defense and vice-versa. Lícia, keep your distance. Use Razor Leaf." With another swing of her leaf she let out a variety of sharp leaves and flung them onto the enemy Pansear. The attack wasn't going to cause much damage on a Fire-type Pokemon but combine that with poison status and it was a good tactic to sap away their stamina.

Before Zach had been able to decide which Pokemon to use, Tyson and Liz had sent out Licia and Oshawatt respectively and had already started to attack. Zach reached for one of his newly acquired Safari Balls, and threw it in the air, releasing Wargle in a bright flash of light, to face a determined looking Panpour.

"Hmph!" the rich boy snarled. "Your weak chick is no match for my Panpour! Use Water Gun!" The Panpour did as it's trainer said, firing a jet of water at Zach's pokemon, making minimal contact with Wargle's left wing.

"Use Wing Attack, Wargle!' Zach ordered his Pokemon. The Rufflet flew over to the Panpour and swung as it with his wing, but the Panpour dodged it with acrobatic skill, doing a back flip to avoid the attack. The rich boy smirked as he ordered his pokemon to use Bite. The monkey pokemon charged at the Rufflet, and tried to chomp on Wargle, but the bird pokemon was just able to avoid the attack, responding with a Peck attack between the eyes of the Panpour, causing it to stagger back. Zach took advantage of this opportunity, ordering Wargle to use Wing Attack once again, with the attack making contact the second time around and causing the Panpour to fall to its knees."

The rich boy was becoming quite infuriated, and blurted out, "Get up, you stupid Pokemon!" He turned his attention to Zach once again. "You'll pay for that! Use Tackle, Panpour!" The Panpour ran at the Rufflet and collided with him, sending him back a few feet, and causing him to tumble and roll a couple of times. Wargle was slow to get up, but when it did, the Rufflet had a sparkle in his eye. He wasn't about to go down without a fight.

Kenz's Squad (PANE)

Staring at the rich boy, Kenz realized that this was all or nothing. So she was going to give it her all; she did NOT want to wash this kids laundry. The dude who made the bet sent out a Fighting-type Pokémon with a lean body, blue, rocky skin, and seemingly wearing a white and black martial arts outfit. His friend sent out a pokemon that looked similar to the former, but red-skinned and wider.

"Sawk," Kenz muttered. What a foolish choice. With the click of a Safari Ball, she sent out her new sister. Tropius, although small, stood ready for a fight.

"Use Growth!" Kenz shouted. Tropius smiled as a green glow enveloped her body and made her grow to twice her size instantly, both intimidating her opponent and raising her Attack and Special Attack power.

"Don't be scared! Use Rock Smash!" The rich boy shouted. Sawk ran forward with a glowing red fist and punched Tropius, but the attack was futile. All it did was leave a scratch, and now Sawk was in the perfect postion for Tropius's next attack.

The watet move actually hit this time, since the pansage was still surprised. Oreo let it all out before looking back at Liz expectantly. The broccoli pokemon shook off the water and turned, so mad Liz could swear she saw steam. The rich boy laughed snottily. "You call that a move? Pansage, use lick!" Oshawott groaned as he was licked with a long tongue by the monkey. He staggered back, blinking in surprise and pain at the stinging it produced.

Liz winced, for it was never a move she had liked. "Oreo, we're getting there! Tackle him now, but jump back quickly!" She didn't want another close-up attack like the lick again. Her oshawott responded quickly, eager to get revenge. He plowed the Pansage over and ran back to Liz before turning back to his opponent. The rich boy snapped his fingers and the grass monkey jumped into the air, whips showing again.

Oreo screamed, in his usual panic. Liz groaned and shouted above the yell, "OREO, CALM DOWN AND USE TACKLE!" She finally bent down and clamped his mouth shut, whispering the order again, this time telling him to swing from the vines if he could get close enough. The oshawott pulled free of her grip and pushed off from his feet and tail, a white and blue rocket in the battle scene.

Once he realized his push was not enough, he turned around in mid-air (after some struggling and spinning) and shot Water Gun at the ground, pushing him further. He flew straight into the pansage, knocking it into it's trainer and sending Oreo falling. Liz ran and slid, Oreo landing on her stomache. Liz groaned and rose slowly, rubbing her sore chest. Luckily she hadn't eaten, or it would be a replay of the Grimer scene from Port Barley.

The pansage was still awake, but it's trainer didn't look good with a bump forming on his head. Liz waited for the next move silently.

"You you little... Pansear, use Fury Swipes!" the High Temp Pokémon closed the distance between his opponent and confronted Lícia with a barrage of swipes. Even though the Reflect was still up the constant flow of damage was negating such effects.

"Finish it off with a Scratch!" the Fury Swipes ended with a Scratch from the Pansear, knocking Lícia back a few meters. The situation wasn't good. The fast and continuous attacks from the monkey were negating Reflect's defense boost, not to speak of the Incinerate that completely bypassed the shield. The poison, however, was still active and was draining away the Pansear's stamina by the end of each attack it made. They only needed to hold out a while longer.

"Lícia, hold him back with Razor Leaf again." the Leaf Pokemon shoot another stream of razor sharp leaves at the Pansear, making it back away slightly.

"Now use Synthesis!" Lícia's leaf began to glow in a bright white and the glow spread down to her body. Synthesis was very helpful skill to have. During normal conditions it would restore the user's stamina by a good amount. During sunny days, however, that good amount became a great amount, bringing the Pokémon almost back to full health. Though they were fighting at night the normal effects of Synthesis were still applied and assured Lícia's ability to stay on the field for more time. It is also a great help to stall out the enemy while the poison brings them down slowly.

"Use Scratch!" the Pansear charged in for another attack but ended up missing. With this opportunity in hand Tyson ordered a Tackle to catch the Pansear off-guard.

"Perfect." the rich boy said, worrying Tyson with that word. Perfect? His Pokémon just got hit and he said perfect? That could only mean one thing... "Now use Payback, Pansear!" with a purple glow surrounding it, the monkey leaped straight into another attack, slamming his tail hard and bring Lícia down on the floor.

"Surprised? I got that from a precious TM I bought." this wasn't good. Payback inflicted massive damage if the user was harmed first and even with the Reflect up it got Lícia on the brink of fainting.. Going for another Synthesis would be worthless since the Pansear could then take her out with another Incinerate or another barrage of Fury Swipes but if Tyson had learned something along these years it was that, no matter what, giving up will get you nowhere.

"Come on, Lícia, we can do this!" and with this said Lícia's body started to glow with a bright white shine once again. At first Tyson thought she was using Synthesis again but after only a couple of seconds did he truly realize what was going on. Lícia's body grew bigger, as did her leaf and buds and the glow faded. Where once was a small Chikorita struggling to get up was now a Bayleef standing upright and ready for her next order.

"You... you evolved! Alright! The poison must have weakened him enough by now. Bring it down with one last Razor Leaf!" Lícia shook her new leaf and, once more, sharp leaves were hurled against the Pansear. These leaves, however, were much faster and in greater quantity than before. One of the many qualities of evolution was the power increase but disadvantages were also part of the deal. A bigger body meant a loss of agility for Pokémons such as Chikorita, Turtwig and Bulbasaur but, if everything worked the way they planned, they wouldn't be needing the agility for the rest of this match. The attack connected with the Pansear and, combined with the damage caused by poison, brought it down to the floor. Lícia, too, collapsed. Yet another disadvantage of evolving was the energy needed to do so. Seeing how this was a triple battle they would only lose if Zach and Liz were wiped out too but, in the end, Tyson was a winner anyways. The Reflect did fade off moments later, though.

"You did wonderfully, Lícia. Have a good rest." and with this said he returned Lícia to her Friend Ball before clipping it back to his belt.

"Be careful, guys. The Reflect is off and that means they're back at full power."

Looking to his right, Zach watched as Tyson and his newly evolved Licia took down the Pansear, and to his left Liz was making easy work of the Pansage.

"Alright," Zach said to his Pokemon, "Let's wrap this up and show this rich snob what we're made of! Use Wing Attack!" And with a determined gleam in his eye, Wargle turned to his opposition once again and flew in it's direction, slamming the Panpour in its chest, causing it to slide back several feet. The Water Pokemon retaliated by shooting several jets of water at Wargle whilst he was in the air, however the Rufflet was barely able to dodge the attacks.

"Good job Wargle," Zach cried out, impressed at his Pokemon's maneuvers. "Now use Peck!" The chick pokemon dove towards the Panpour with impressive speed, his beak glowing as he did.

"Hah!" the rich boy laughed. "Use Dig!" The monkey Pokemon dug into the ground, with Wargle flying by a moment later, just missing its target. The Rufflet circled around and hovered in the middle of the battlefield, flapping his tiny wings, trying to acquire his enemies position. Suddenly, the Panpour sprung out of the ground beneath him, crashing into the Flying type from beneath, causing him to lose his balance slightly, but he quickly regained his composure as the Panpour burrowed into the ground once again. The Rufllet turned to Zach, looking determined.

"Do whatever you have to do," Zach said, nodding. Right that instance, the Panpour flew out of the earth once again, however this time Wargle did a quick 180-degree turn and smacked the monkey with a critical Wing Attack straight in the face, sending it back to the ground. Both Zach, the opposing trainer, and the crowd stood there in complete awe as the Panpour fell to the earth with a loud crash, and was completely knocked out. After a moment of complete silence, an uproar started within the crowd, with many cheering and screaming in pure excitement.

Wargle flew over and perched himself on Zach's shoulder as he congratulated his Pokemon on his impressive victory. Then, the whole crowd turned their attention to Liz as she was wrapping her battle up.

"Come on Liz!" Zach called out, watching his friend battle. Soon enough, the whole crowd got into it, chanting.

"Liz! Liz! Liz! Liz! Liz!"

Kenz's Squad (PANE)

((David hasn't been on for almost a month, so I'm taking him over for a bit.))
Kenz watched triumphantly as the battle on David's side ended. The Throh was no match for David's Pokemon.

Turning back to our own battle, she looked at the placement of Sawk. Too easy.

"Tropius, use Gust!" she shouted. Tropius gathered energy, then rapidly flapped her wings, tossing the Sawk about fifteen yards away, then slamming it into a nearby tree. Charles looked scared as the Sawk refused to get up (or move, for that matter).

"Guess I win," Kenz smiled. "Now hand over that Return TM on your belt." She pointed to the large white disk on his belt.

"Yeah, about that..." he replied nervously, and began to run. Kenz stared in shock, and thought of a better solution that running.

"Piddee!" she called, tossing a Pokeball into the air. Piddee went flying, already understanding the predicament once he saw Charles running off. He flew quickly, faster than Kenz could have run in her wildest dreams. Dodging a large fountain, Piddee tripped up the rich boy and grabbed the disk. Unfortunatly, the grabbing made an unexpected even occur.

Piddee was suddenly overcome with memories of Kenz and him together. The first morning in the forest where she had run away, the ferry that had taken them to Furoh, even the memories of him sharing her bed and warmth in the cold winter months. He realized that there was a better way to protect her. He could use Return, a move that demonstrated his love for her. He loved her deeply, so this would keep her safe. She would never be worried again.

He flew back to Kenz, who congratulated him with a hug. He nuzzled against her heart, and they were an inseperable duo once again.

"Come on Liz!" Zach called to her, the crowd that had formed fallowing along..

"Liz! Liz! Liz! Liz! Liz!"

Liz glanced at them and looked at her oshawott. "One more then. Oreo, water gun." Oreo sucked in a deep breath and exploded with water. It hit directly on the passage and it's trainer's pants. They both screamed and flailed until Oreo released his blow, panting in swift motions.

The wet rich boy staggered up. He watched his pokemon follow, only to fall back, eyes spinning. He choked and then turned red.

"You stupid country girl!" Liz inwardly smiled; it was ironic that a girl from a major port city would be called a country girl. The boy glared further and pulled out a bag, jingling slightly. "Here! Use this to get a decent bath!" The boy returned his pokemon and scurried away.

Liz bent and took the bag, opening it. Inside was a small fortune. Liz turned to Zach and Tyson. She broke the money in thirds and handed them each their part.

"I don't know about you, but I'm tired, and I'm going to bed." She curtsied at them and brushed aside her falling curled hair before briskly turning and exiting.

Liz went to the lobby and stopped at a mirror to fix her hair. She looked at herself and yawned. Bedtime for you... She noticed in the corner of the mirror a door behind her, with a cut off sign above it. Liz turned and squinted. Wynaut Way... She looked inside the bag of money and smiled softly before going outside.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most of the stores and stalls were closed at the hour, either asleep or out at dinner. Liz looked around for a light and spotted one down the street. She walked to it and saw a young man behind the counter. He had dark blonde hair cut short but shaggy around his face, with dark highlights. He was tan from the island sun and wore swim trunks and a v-neck. He smiled when she approached.
"Hello, what can I get for you?" Liz looked at the merchandise. Various beautifully glittering stones were laid out all over, some strung as necklaces, others as rings. She chose a bright flaming orange gem, finely pointed into a diamond.
"How much for that?" The man put it by the cashier and they started working a bargain.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In the end the bag was almost empty, but it was still a good deal. Liz put it in her bag and smiled as she went upstairs, into the suite, and made her bed. She changed into a t-shirt and sweat pants and flopped down to sleep.

Kenz grabbed Pidee off of her chest and took out Tropius's Pokeball.

"Tropius, return!" she said, watching as a red light changed Tropius back to his plasma form inside the safe sanctuary of the Pokeball. Kenz decided against going back to her regular outfit, walked back inside, grabbed her purse, and left.

She walked slowly back to the hotel where they were staying and rapped the bell at the counter.

"Yes, may I help you?" An 18-year-old girl in a dark blue uniform asked.

"Yeah, I'm gonna move out tomorrow instead of doing three days here. Can I get a slight refund?" Kenz replied.

"Yes, of course! Here, I'll just subtract the three day package from the one day..." she said, taking out a calculator and typing in some numbers and pressing some buttons.

"And we get 200 Pokedollers! Here you go!" she said after several minutes. She reached into the cash register and pulled out two 100 Pokedollar slips.

"Thanks!" Kenz replied, taking the money outside to Wynaut Way.

--------------

She made an immediate beeline for the Pokemon food stand.

"Hello, what can I get you?" the shop owner, a short man with a curly mustache, said with a very thick accent that Kenz couldn't place.

"One jumbo bag of Tropius food, please!" Kenz chirped.

"Ah, a new Tropius owner. They don't make Tropius food, sorry. Tropius suck nutrients from the food on their necks," the shop owner said, with a hint of sadness at loosing a sale.

"Oh," Kenz replied. "Well, I do need to stock up on Pidgey and Metapod food."

"Metapod's are in their cocoon, gathering nutrients from the food they ate before evolution. All I have is Pidgey food. Extra large?"

"You bet."

"Here you are," the man grunted, hefting a way oversized bag of Pidgey food and placing it in Kenz's arms.

"Thanks so much," Kenz grunted back, hefting it back to her cabin.

------------
Once she got to her cabin, she was exhausted. She opened the bag, and Pidee took haste in emptying the bag as much as possible. Kenz went into her closet, changed into a t-shirt and sweats, and laid down for as much time as she had. She would be leaving soon, and would have to say goodbye to her friends.

Active Squad

After the battles were over the rich kids wasted no time in leaving the scene and, in the course of several seconds, the crowd eventually dispersed. Tyson did as well, wishing a good night to his friends as he did so and heading back to the bar to grab a sandwich. Wasn't particularly what he was hoping for but at least he got some food to chew on while the nurse fully healed Lícia back to health after the intense battle. During this waiting period he also decided that first thing in the morning they were leaving. Where to was still undecided but hopefully he'd pick the destination before falling asleep.

***

With Lícia now back at full health it was time to get a good night of rest. On his way to the room Tyson kept checking his map trying to decide where to head next. He could keep on going to Fidona, return to Arasam, visit Gigarte but, in the end, he decided against them all and marked Petropolis. The bursting city could provide a nice change of pace to the serenity he was used to. He folded the map back up and tried to silently open the door to avoid waking up anybody who was already asleep. Exhausted and not even caring about changing clothes he lay down on the bed, falling asleep moments later. Tomorrow, early in the morning, they were back on the road again, this time to a place even further than before.

Hunter's Party

With Liz beating the final opponent, she handed over Zach's share of the prize money, which he quickly pocketed. "Thanks." After that, Zach said goodnight to his friends and took off towards the hotel. Once he got there, he grabbed some clean clothes and got changed, dropping his dirty ones in his duffel bag. He plopped down on the bed and grabbed a map of the region, examining it thoroughly.

He had no clue as to where he would go on his next adventure. There was so many locations, he just couldn't make up his mind. He folded up the map and put it on the night stand, turning off the light as he slowly fell asleep. He would have to decide the next location on his journey in the morning.
