Hold Item Question

Say you have an Arceus with the fire-type plate. If your opponent uses Thief/Knock Off/whatever item removing move, does it make him go back to normal type?

I'm not sure as I don't have Arceus yet, but I would think he would go back to Normal.

I don't see why it wouldn't. Fire Plate only activates as long as its held by the Pokemon.

...If it doesn't, then that would be broken.

But how does Arceus' ability work? Perhaps at the start of the battle it develops the type of whatever plate it's holding. On the other hand it could work how you say it.
