Yeah, how do they work in this generation? I heard they got a big change from this to the third generation.

They didn't even exist until the 3rd generation.

Also I claimed Vaporeon. |

Huh. That's strange. It would appear as though GameFAQs has lied to me yet again.

GSC just had DVs(IVs same thing) except they only went from 0-15. Shiny pokemon had specific DVs in the 2nd gen, so they were worse than non shinies most of the time, and couldn't reach their absolute max stats.
However in GSC a pokemon could reach their max stats however, it's very odd. I'll use celebi as an example. Celebi is a pokemon with base 100 in every stat. It's very maximum HP in GSC was 403, while the rest of its stats could hit 298. In advance and DP, his HP can hit 404 with 252 EVs. With a neutral nature, the rest of the stats max out at 299(with a full investment of 252 EVs, of course) I believe there is something like EVs in RBY though, called stat experience, except I believe there was no limit to it, and you could max out all of your stats, which explains why rare candying a pokemon up made it worse than just beating the hell out of everything in site Also in GSC, a 1 point difference in a DV made the difference between 2 stat points, as opposed to the 31 IVs which gives only 1 stat point per IV. In RBY and GSC apparently DVs are basically all the same. All these differences may explain why the GB games are incompatible with the advance games, in addition to the fact that both games are on different systems, and a possible marketing ploy by Nintendo! -------------------- I use Wi-fi but my pokemon are hacked, but have things within the field of legality in the game. Not to mention the addition of natures and traits making things more fun.

Yeah, RyanK is right on the stat experience for RBYG and GSC.
Pokemon in the 1st and 2nd gen will be significantly stronger if you beat the living crap out of everything in sight than just feeding it Rare Candies. Sort of like real life. You exercise to get stronger, candies and no exercise make you fat (sometimes) and weak. -------------------- Overtaken by Net & Zodi on that track!

Well that explains a lot. So bsically I just need to beat the living shit ou of everything instead of Rare Canding my Pokemon? Got it.

We'll dub Rare Candies and Day Care "empty experience".
@ RyanK: I don't really un;derstand much of that. I get the IV/DV, because I was competitive in GSC, but I never understood the EV system, if there really is one. I understand the Rare Candies and all that, but is the IV system basically all that is different? |
