As the title says, I currently have a summoned Giratina, summoned Fossil Kabuto, daycare Pokii and shelter Shellderboy in my party. Would I still be able to qualify for the event, or is there a limit? I can't keep track of all the recent updates XD

Yes there's now a limit you can only have three Notvly/Ledgends in your party. but you'll be fine if you can get Giratina to hatch tonight ^.^

Event eggs are not affected by the limit so you are eligible, just not lucky.
If you obtained Shellderboy today, you may only find one more of any legendary or novelty in the shelter or randomly in the lab. If you have not obtained any other Shellderboys through the lab or shelter, then your total count for that specific pokemon is 1, the limit for that pokemon being 2.
All your other pokemon do not go towards your daily limit or specific pokemon limits.

This post is entirely false. Except for daycare being irrelevant, that is true.
However, HATCHED legends/novelties have no effect on anything. If you have three legend/novelty EGGS in your party you can't find any legends/novelties in the shelter.

EDIT: Whoops, my bad. You would be ineligible for the event if they were eggs, but they are hatched, so you are still eligible. :]

So if you already have 3 (or more, since you could have had some from before the update) eggs in your Party that are of the rarity Novelty or Very Rare, then you will not be able to see any in the Lab/Shelter and cannot get any in an event if one is held.

So unless that's been changed, you will not be able to get an egg from this event until you hatch one of those eggs. (Maybe two - I'm not sure if the Daycare egg counts. That's never been clear to me.)

I think Wymsy should update the event page to include that if you have 3 novelties/legendaries you are ineligible for the event.

It wasn't very clear:

Monthly Events
Generally a handful of times per month, an event is conducted during which both Legendary and Novelty Eggs are handed out at random to a specific number of members. You don't need to do anything, or sign up anywhere to participate in these events - on the day of the event, which will be announced ahead of time on the forums, you simply need to have an empty slot in your party, and you'll have a chance of receiving that day's Event Egg.

How to get an egg from this event
- You must keep at least one slot open in your party.
- You MUST have logged in sometime on GPX+ in the last two weeks. Yes, being set as online all of the time counts as being online (I don't know why people had to ask me this....).
- You must have the required amount of total interactions labelled next to each Pokémon in order to obtain that egg on the day of the event.

About 700-900ish of each egg will be sent to random users who meet the three requirements above. Breedable Novelties will always have a lesser amount sent out, especially ones that have already been cycling through the site.
