This article states that the Global Link and Dream World for Gen 5 will be shut down and cease to exist. A brand new one will be posted for XY.
I figured that the Dream World would carry over into Gen 6, but I had no idea they planned on wiping your ability to use it with Gen 5. I know this means that they are massively overhauling it and changing how a lot things work, but, I mean, there would already be a way to keep you from transferring Gen 6 Pokemon and buffs to old mons into Gen 5 due to the fact that they were 2 different games with the same incompatibilities as other cross-gen communications, if that was what they were worried about. I'm a bit miffed at the fact that they put all this hype into grinding for berries and getting furniture, and then kill your progress on it. I know the Dream World wasn't all that popular due to how many godawful restrictions there were on how to play, but what are your thoughts? -------------------- |

I was kind of expecting something completely different than the dream world, but hey ho, maybe they'll have not so many restrictions. I didn't exactly do much on it or get very far (I think I still had the basic house lol)
Regardless, I'd still play it for a bit then forget, but I just really want berries to be able to be grown in your game itself, not go on some website for them :( If they bring some new stuff to it then I'm all game, but berries back in the game kthx. I like the idea I've seen others share about having a berry farm in XY, an area where you can go to grow your all berries, instead of trying to remember little alcoves all over the overworld because you can only plant 2 or 3 to a spot. I love that idea.
Also, since the Dream World is being shut down, several medals in BW2 are lost forever. ಠ_ಠ Way to go, bros. -------------------- |

Which medals o.o (I haven't got them all yet lol) But a berry farm does sound quite nice.. maybe if you had your own greenhouse or something and you can expand the greenhouse opposed to expanding the berry slots to an extra 3. Perhaps something to let you know your berries are done too.. I forget quite often so an email saying "your berries are ready to be picked!" would be nice.. -------------------- Don't forget to love yourself. The medals Top Medalist (100% Medal completion),
Beginning of Memory (See 1 Memory Link event), Memory Master (See all Memory Link events), Good Night (Wake up a sleeping Pokemon), Dozing Capture (Catch 1 DW Pokemon), Sleeping Capture (10 DW Pokemon), Deep Sleep Capture (50 DW pokemon), and Sweet Dreamer (100 DW Pokemon). Here's the full list of medals. I've got 172/255. I feel bad for people who pick up BW2 for the first time and find out some medals and the Memory Link are unavailable to them since they didn't buy the game "on time". :/ This post has been edited by Indoor Survival: Jul 1 2013, 09:02 AM -------------------- |

It's a shame that all Gen V functionality is going away, though I'm not surprised. The servers are gonna be slammed hard since this is the first time there's been a global main Pokemon series release, and I guess whatever they have planned will require their servers to all be ready to handle X & Y only. I won't miss the Dream World that much, when I first played it with White and White 2 I was into it for about a month then completely lost interest. It was too much of a grind of basic, repetitive tasks to gain points.
I'm hoping that whatever they have planned for X & Y is a significant step up from the Dream World. I'm hoping there will be more of an emphasis on interacting with other people in realtime now that this is a much more global thing. If it's another collection of minigames, at the very least I hope there's more of a challenge and variety to them. --------------------

I really hope there are other ways to get points then those mini games too. I hated every single one of them. Most were so damn tedious, mainly the Wailord Bounce thing and Gem Collecting. Wailord Bounce moved far too slow with that irritating speed cap and gem collecting was only good if you had a tablet.
If there are other alternatives then I'll be game. If there isn't, I hope there'll be more game variety where they're actually.. fun. -------------------- Don't forget to love yourself. I was afraid that's what it was going to do. I was trying to read what they were saying about it on the global link but it wasn't too clear. Guess I have to get all the pokemon I can to complete my pokedex now before it's all completely gone. Just another reason why I won't be playing generation 6. I hate when all the time that I put into something just ceases to matter since they are taking it away.

It is a shame that the Dream World will be going away for Gen 5, especially since it means no more C-gear skins for the games...though I admit, I did get a bit miffed at them when my favorite Keldeo C-gear skin got lost when I started White 2 over, and I contacted them about getting it back, but they couldn't do anything since the Game Sync ID had changed, even though it was the same cartridge...I mean, I do have a Meloetta C-gear skin to replace it, but it doesn't feel the same...
If they do anything like the C-gear skins for the new PSS coming out for X and Y, I hope they get it fixed so that it won't matter if some ID isn't the same, that they can get it replaced no matter what...either that or they get rid of that ID all together so there won't be any problems -------------------- |

QUOTE(Serebii.net) In The Games Department Pokémon X & Y - Bonuses Ahead of the opening of the new Pokémon Global Link with the launch of Pokémon X & Y, they have announced a new feature of it. In Pokémon X & Y, you can earn Poké Miles within certain parts, currently unknown. PokéMiles are used in the PokéMileage Club in the PGL in order to pay to play attractions and receive items from the shop, which can then be sent back to X & Y. However, there is another way to earn them. It has been announced that your Dream Points will be converted to PokéMiles. These points are then sent to your new account if you register before January 14th 2014. If you register both games, then you will receive the points in each game so if you qualify for 500 PokéMiles, you'll get them in X and then get the same amount in Y. The conversion is as follows: 10,000–49,999 Dream Points = 500 PokéMiles 50,000–99,999 Dream Points = 3,000 PokéMiles 100,000–199,999 Dream Points = 10,000 PokéMiles 200,000 + Dream Points = 25,000 Poké Miles The conversion is calculated by adding the Dream Points from all the games on your account. So if you have Black, White, Black 2 & White 2, they are all factored into the calculation. They also announced special Medals that are unlocked in the Pokémon Global Link if you also had Generation V games. A Medal for Dream Points: 50,000, 100,000 or 200,000 A Medal for amount of purchased homes: 1, 4 or 8 A Medal for purchased items: 1, 25 or 50 items purchased A Medal for purchased Pokémon Dolls: 1, 50 or 100 dolls purchased A Medal for ranking in the top 100 in any GBU Season (except Season 10) A Medal based on how many times you have ranked highly in WiFi Competitions Reminder: The Gen V Global Link will close next week, with features closing graudally between then and January. As such, you'll be no longer able to put Pokémon to sleep so make sure you've got as much as you want from the Dream World They really know how to twist the salted knife. :V The new Global Link has a mobile site, though, so that'll be helpful. Brb going to cut myself open (for a fourth time yay operations), pour in a load of salt and get an electric whisk.
Gah that's awful. Not sure how many I'd be getting, though.. -------------------- Don't forget to love yourself. Add me for daily clicks: 873/1000 --- Community Thread Shiny List! --- Breeding Incentives: Mission Cards |

I've got a whopping...5740 total.
And bullshit on those purchase medals. Half of the required berries I couldn't even find, let alone farm up to 800 of 3 different kinds for some dinky little decoration. -------------------- |
