I use my lvl 100 Jynx Via Mean Look, Hypnosis, and Dream Eater. Then Ultra Ball. Master Ball is a choice, but..

I don't think I ever caught them.....
In Platinum I figured out a way to catch the roamers however by bringing along a Gengar with Mean Look and Hypnosis, as well as a Sceptile with False Swipe. I used Gengar to keep it from running away, then once it was low enough in HP, I switched to Sceptile and used False Swipe. They tended to run when Gengar was removed, so the next time I saw them I just threw a Quick Ball at them. I caught all the Legendary Birds and Cresselia this way:3 -------------------- Uxie Anitarig Daisuke Weasley Sceptile Rika |

I used a Crobat with Mean Look, at first, but it Roared me away, so the following times I swapped to my Noctowl. Noctowl was pretty high level, since it was on my main team, so it was fast enough to try hit the Dogs with a Hypnosis first off, then if that worked, hit it until its low HP and swap to a Scyther with False Swipe.
I'm pretty good with getting them in my route - hang out at the route right below Ecruteak, and go down the tiny path near the Park or right to the Sudowoodo route, back and forth. I get a kick out of just having them in my route, so I don't mind spending that time. False Swipe and Hypnosis - I did the same in Diamond, with another Noctowl, and my brilliant Ninjask. -------------------- |

I've always been fond of the cheap "Mean Look + Sing/Hypnosis/Sleep Powder/etc" combo.

1st: do that whole walking thing.
2nd: make sure you have lots of repels. (I'd recommend going in a route w/ low level pokemon) 3rd: Use a Gengar..or something like that. 4th: Continue smacking it until its health gets as low as possible. 5th: Keep throwing ultra balls until it finally accepts that it fails. I actually managed to catch all three one time. I used an ultra ball on Entei and Suicune. Then I used me masterball on Raikou I always catch them in that order. -------------------- A huuuuge fan of Gwanom from the Zelda CDI series. |

If I was actually looking for them, I'd have something in my Party that could put the dog to sleep. I'd then throw Ultra Balls like crazy.
This strategy worked for me. I've captured all three dogs multiple times. -------------------- |

I always tried to use Mean Look so they couldn't escape, but it never seemed to work on them. :< So I'd try to make them fall asleep if I could, then just batter them as much as possible and toss out the most powerful Pokeball I could and pray to the heavens I caught it. D=

Yep I did it with mean look and hypnosis/sleep powder. Ultra balls worked for me but it all took forever.

I used the cloning cheat with the PC, cloned 3 masterballs, then went hunting for them with repels and a Lv 40 pokémon.

I had no specific strategy for the initial encounter. I just had to get lucky with that.
But after I did find them, I had a good way, from my experience, of finding them. I basically just go in and out of an area, or into different areas, trapping it in that place. I usually do it south of Ecruteak City. Then I just keep going with mean look and hypnosis until I managed to capture it. I guess it's everyone's strategy, but oh well. |

If I remember correctly, Raikou is set in one particular patch of grass. I remember that the area looks like, but I don't know what it's called. I remember saving in front of it 'till I eventually caught it.
Entei's nest changes all the time. Suicune... I never encountered it. -------------------- |
