Update 10.7.10: As of now, you can also find Flame Orbs, Heart Scales, Focus Sashes, and Sprite Changers underground
Update 4.12.11: New fossils info added
Update 5.25.11: Pass Powers info added; general update to entire section

Simple enough... the newly released underground allows you to deposit a Pokemon to look for items.

As per the new help section: http://gpxplus.net/help#poketch
"Trainers who have an Explorer Kit may send one of their Pokémon into the Underground in search of rare items. When your Pokémon returns from the Underground, they usually will bring back an item, including Evolution Stones, Summoning Items, the Corruption Orb and rare Fossils, which can be resurrected into ancient Pokémon. How long this takes depends both on how long you spend online, and how active you are during the time you spend online. Note that each Pokémon may only visit the Underground once, and also, no EXP is gained in the Underground, only items.

One account upgrade can affect the Underground - if you have an Itemfinder, you will be more likely to find an item in the Underground."

Finally, the Pokemon can only be sent underground once. By using the item Escape Rope, however, you can send a Pokemon who has already been underground one extra time (for a total of 2 times).

That should explain most things. Here are other questions people seem to have.

FAQ
How will I know when my pokemon is back?
An underground icon will appear on the top left, same as when an egg is ready to hatch or when a daycare egg is ready to be claimed.

Is this based one time or interactions?
It's based on your time/activity while on the site, not interactions like Walker.

Does the pokemon I put in matter? Like level/shiny/rareness?
No.

Does ___ impact the item I can get?
No, it's random. And yes, sometimes you get nothing.
EDIT: SOMETIMES YOU GET STREAKS OF NOTHING $!%#@*^!
EDIT EDIT: But then you can get Corruption orbs and summoning items and the world is happy again

Tell me about fossils
That's not a question. Anyway, fossils can somtimes be found by Pokemon in the underground. They can be used to add a BRAND SPANKING NEW fossil egg to your party (needs an empty slot) with a base interaction of 20,780. They can be sold for 5,000, and bought in the backroom for 7,500. This is the only way to obtain fossils (besides looking in the backroom of the shop).
Fossils: Cranidos, Shieldon, Lileep, Anorith, Aerodactyl, Kabuto, Omanyte, and Relicanth.
NOTE: These ARE new pokemon, with the name "Fossil" added before them and with a different look and egg dex. If their "normal" counterpart evolves, then the fossil version does as well.
4.12.11 EDIT: Two new fossils have been added for Gen V to match the ingame ones: Tirtouga and Archen. They can be found in the same manner as the other ones.

STAGES OF POKEMON WAIT TIME UNDERGROUND
1. "The Pokémon has not yet returned! You may call them back now, however you will not get any items."
2. "The Pokémon has been gone for a little while, but they'll still be a while longer. You may call them back now, however you will not get any items."
3. "The Pokémon has been gone for quite some time now! I wonder how much longer they'll be... You may call them back now, however you will not get any items."
4. "The pokemon has been gone for what feels like forever. they should be back any minute now, though! You may call them back now, however you will not get any items."
5. "The Pokémon has returned! Call him/her back to your party to see if (s)he found anything."

PASS POWERS
As of now, there is only one pass power that applies to the underground. Spelunk Power, which is sold for a simple 4 orbs, is activated immediatly upon purchase. The effect is to increase the stage of your Pokemon underground by one. So if just just put one in (stage 1), and activate the power, you'll find the Pokemon at stage 2. This can work for any level, and the same Pokemon can have the power applied more than once, but note that there is a limit to two uses of the power per day.

So? What have you found?

Yes, this is a feature that as of time of writing, only people with 25,000+ interactions can see. But it will be open to the public after a few days of beta testing

Nothing yet, but I threw in a Missingno. I'm praying he'll bring me back something awesome. cat.gif If not, then I'll throw in another.. And another, and so on and so forth. I have no idea how long they need to be in there, though.

I put my Bayleef in. I think they'll probably come back with a dress up item like they sometimes do in the PokeWalker. I'm almost afraid my Pokemon will get lost in there xD

I threw my Rattata down there for now.

I haven't got anything yet, but that may be because I was slow to test it out. XP

Umm. So I just found a "rare root fossil" after sending my Gabite into the Underground.
Anyone have an idea what it does?
All it said was that it would be in effect until the next reset.
