Twila Reanne (click to showhide) Name: Twila Reanne (pronounced: Twigh-la Ray-anne) Age: 18 (Birthday: September 14th) Hometown: Canalave City (Sinnoh) Appearance: She has long, thick, curly black hair that she likes to keep down, no matter how hot it is (she hates ponytails, they make her head hurt). Her eyes are a bright, almost lime green with flecks of greyish-blue in them. She wears minimal makeup, meaning she only uses masquera and eyeliner because her skin is - for the most part - smooth and acne free (not to mention a beautiful olive-y color). However, being out in the sun so much has given her countless freckles on her face, arms and legs, but she doesn't mind them. Her favorite color is blue, so naturally she dresses all in blue. Her royal blue t-shirt is loose fitting with no pattern on it. Her shorts are light colored jeans with frayed edges. Her long boots and fingerless gloves are a shade somewhere in between her shirt and shorts. This is the outfit she usually wears. However, when it gets cold, she wears a charcoal grey, tight-fitting sweater and long dark blue jeans along with her boots and gloves. She carries a black messenger bag that holds all of her travelling needs plus her Pokemon. She's of average height, being around 5'6" and also fairly skinny, being around 135 lbs. Personality: She is a quiet, somewhat introverted girl when it comes to strangers. She gets very shy around people - especially guys - and blushes when someone compliments (or flirts with) her. On the flip side, when she's in a battle she's fierce and fiery, often shooting off smart remarks. When she's around friends, she's very sarcastic, and laughs a lot. She loves her friends and would go anywhere with them. She is very emotional, and can become angered or upset fairly easily. She loves to be outdoors, although she hates it when it's hot. Usually you can find her at a pool or lake when the temperature gets above 85 degrees. She loves the cold however. She loves snow, and would frequently make trips to Snowpoint city just because it is always covered in snow. She is very handy, and can fix almost anything. She has even made her own custom Poke balls. She has had dreams of working on the PC boxes to make them even more efficient, but her main goal is to train her Pokemon to be the best they can be. Class: Other/Undecided Biography: Very long Biography (click to showhide) Twila was born in Canalave City. Her father was a sailor, while her mother was the owner of the PokeMart. Twila was twelve when she lost her parents. They fell deathly ill from an unknown disease. Her parents died shortly after being admitted to the hospital, leaving Twila to look after her nine year old sister Dusk (they were both "looked after" by their aunt and uncle, but they were...inattentive) and to run the PokeMart. This is why she did not start her journey until she was eighteen.
When the time came for new trainers to get their Pokemon, Dusk was the one who got up early. When she went to get her older sister up, however, she merely grunted and said that she'd meet her at Sandgem Town. Dusk merely shrugged and walked out the door. She was used to her sister's pleas for more sleep. She was definitely NOT a morning person. However, once Dusk had left, there was no one around to wake Twila up. So she slumbered on...until she woke up at nine thirty with her sister yelling "Twila? Twila, are you still asleep?! TWILA!" She jumped out of bed, stringing together a beautiful array of curse words as she did, and proceeded to hastily get ready. After a shower at record time, and somehow brushing her teeth and drying her hair at the same time, she ran back into her room and started shoving necessities into her grey messenger bag. Extra clothes, her cell phone, her favorite Bulbasaur Pokedoll, and an array of personal hygiene products. She suddenly paused while rummaging through her drawers to find a suitable swimsuit to take with her on her journey - for she would be starting it as soon as she got her Pokemon - and opened the top drawer of her dresser. She rummaged through to the back where she finally found what she was looking for. With some difficulty, she pulled out dozens of different Pokeballs. These were her pride and joy, ordinary Pokeballs that had been extras in the stock for the PokeMart that she had turned into her own creations. Some were for specific types of Pokemon; others were for Pokemon that were under the influence of specific statuses like sleep or poison. She looked at them lovingly, then proceeded to shove them into her bag. As she ran down the stairs to the main floor of their house, Dusk walked to the foot of the stairs and said, "You'll meet me at Sandgem Town, huh? I waited for an hour and a half for you to show up! Do you know how late you are? You'll be lucky if there's one Pokemon left!" Twila just rolled her eyes at her little sister and ran to the kitchen with hopes of finding a quick breakfast. Thanks to Dusk, a bowl of cereal was waiting for her. She wolfed it down, then turned to find Dusk holding out her running shoes. She nodded her thanks to her sister, shoved her feet into her shoes and ran toward the door. As she ran out she yelled back, "Wish me luck!" to which Dusk said, "Yeah, you're gonna need it..."
Twila ran down the street, wondering how she would get to Sandgem in a decent amount of time, when a man came racing by on a motorcycle. "Hey, Logan!" Twila yelled, waving her hands, "Can I get a ride to Sandgem town?" The man, apparently named Logan, slowed his bike and turned around, saying, "Sure, but weren't you supposed to be there two hours ago?" Twila sighed, put her hands on her hips and said, "Yes, Logan, I was supposed to be there two hours ago. Thank you for reminding me." Logan chuckled quietly while Twila put an extra helmet on and hopped on the bike.
"Belle! Adam! Come out and help charge up this bike!" Logan called as he threw two Pokeballs into the air. A flash of red light turned into two small mouse Pokemon; one had red markings while the other had blue. The Plusle and Minun pair climbed into two clear balls set into the bike's wheels, and proceeded to let out small shocks that powered up the bike. Logan grinned at Twila and said, "Thanks for fixin' up my bike so it runs on electricity. Belle and Adam really love riding in the wheels." He revved up the bike and sped away, clouds of dust erupting behind them. A half an hour later, they arrived in Sandgem town, home of Professor Rowan and his Lab. Twila jumped off the bike hurriedly and ran towards the lab, hoping that she wasn't too late to get a Pokemon. She had been waiting six years to start her journey, and she didn't want to have to wait another year just because she slept in. She rushed to the door of the lab, flung it open and ran up to one of the scientists working there. "Do you know where Professor Rowan is?" she panted, staring hopefully at the slightly startled man. The man nodded and pointed to the back of the lab. Twila nodded her thanks and sped away. A few minutes of searching the back of the lab revealed the professor sitting in a chair looking quite pleased. "Hello, Professor Rowan, my name's Twila." Twila said as she approached the white haired man, "Do you happen to have any more Pokemon left for starting Trainers? I kind of overslept and, obviously, am a little late..." The professor turned and fixed his eyes on Twila. She visibly flinched and took a step away from him. He seemed like he was searching for something. It felt like he was staring into her soul. Then his features transformed into an apologetic frown.
"I'm sorry," he said, "but the last of my Pokemon were distributed to three youngsters who only just left five minutes before you arrived." Twila sighed in defeat, thinking about the agony of waiting another year to be able to start her journey. "Finally, the first time I could get out and see the world, and it's the one day that I decide to sleep in. I can't believe what an idiot I am!" Twila exclaimed, her eyes tearing up. Professor Rowan sighed sympathetically and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry, I truly am. I wish there was some way I could help, but...what are those?" He pointed to her bag that she had dropped on the floor. Her custom Pokeballs had accidentally rolled out onto the floor for everyone to see.
Twila panicked, "These are - these are nothing!" she exclaimed, hurriedly scooping them up, trying to hide them from the piercing gaze of the professor. However, he merely smiled and held out his hand.
"May I?" he asked, gesturing towards one of the Pokeballs. Twila hesitated, then placed a green Pokeball with dark green stripes and a red jewel-like marking in the professor's outstretched hand. He examined it carefully, opening it up, looking at the mechanics of it, then placed it on a nearby table. He then turned toward Twila and asked, "As I'm certain that you didn't just change the outer appearance of these Pokeballs, what exactly did you do to them?"
Again, Twila hesitated. Then, seeing the curious expression on the professor's face, dumped the rest of her Pokeballs onto the table and proceeded to explain their purposes.
"These are for each specific type of Pokemon," she gestured towards seventeen differently decorated Pokeballs. She pointed to each of them in turn, describing which kinds of Pokemon were suited for each Pokeball. "And this," she gestured towards a Pokeball with a black top and a white bottom with blue circuits running along the top half of it, "is my masterpiece. It has a 99.9% catch rate, heals the Pokemon caught in it, and makes it grow more friendly and obedient towards its trainer. I spent two years on this one alone. Since I didn't have a Pokemon of my own, I decided to prepare for the day when I would have one..." She slumped again at the thought of not getting a Pokemon.
Professor Rowan, however, just stood staring at the Pokeballs. Suddenly, he turned, obviously coming to some kind of decision, and moved towards a desk with a high-tech computer on it. He took a key from his pocket, unlocked the top drawer of the desk, and pulled out a parcel. He then walked back to where Twila was standing a bit confused as to what was going on. The professor handed Twila the parcel, then waited as she unwrapped it.
She stared in amazement as she unveiled the newest model of Pokedex. She turned the sleek black mini-computer over in her hands, then looked up at the professor and asked, "Why? I mean, I'm flattered, but I don't even have a Pokemon..."…”
Rowan just smiled and said, "This is the newest version of the Pokedex. Not even my assistant Lucas has this model. I've been saving it for a specific type of Trainer, and I believe that that Trainer is you."”
Twila shook her head, "But, I don't have a Pokemon. How am I supposed to use it if I-?"”
Professor Rowan cut her off, "I think that you can handle catching a wild Pokemon, considering how well you can improvise and invent. Besides, you already have Pokeballs; nothing's stopping you from going out and trying to catch your own Pokemon."”
"Umm, yeah, there kind of is," Twila said, "Don't I need, oh I don't know, a Pokemon to battle and catch a wild Pokemon?"”
Professor Rowan chuckled, "You're a smart young woman. I'm sure you will find some way to catch a Pokemon." And with that, he walked away.
"But-!" Twila started after the white-haired professor, then shook her head in defeat and walked out of the lab. "How am I supposed to catch a perfectly healthy wild Pokemon?" Twila mused hopelessly, kicking the dirt underneath her feet. She looked around; trying to spot her ride home, but Logan was nowhere to be found. "Probably started flirting with the first girl he saw," Twila muttered, "Well, no use trying to find him now. It'd take ages to pull him away." Giving up, Twila started to walk home. "I guess I'll have to stop in Jubilife for the night and then start again in the morning." She trudged out of Sandgem town, heading onto Route 202 with a heavy heart, and dark clouds in the evening sky.
The walk wasn't all that bad; the wild Pokemon on the route weren't inclined to violence, and would even wave to her every now and then. She smiled a little and waved at the cute Shinx and Starly, who promptly ran away in fright. Twila stopped short when she heard a small, frightened cry coming from behind a few bushes to the left of her. Curious, she peeked through the bushes to find a small Ralts standing in horror in the middle of a small clearing. Twila walked slowly towards the tiny green-headed creature, but it paid no heed to her. It just stood and trembled, transfixed on a rather large patch of dark created by dense trees and bushes.
Concerned, Twila put a gentle hand on the creature's shoulder and said softly, "Hello little one, why are you so scared?" Not two seconds later, she got her answer. A dark blur shot out of the darkness of the woods, heading straight for the tiny Ralts and Twila. Twila grabbed the terrified Pokemon and dove out of the way just in time. The blur missed, hit a tree, and climbed up it. The stillness after the charge made Twila's hair on the back of her neck prickle. She tensed, waiting for the right moment to get away. She could tell that the strange creature was watching them, waiting for them to move so it could strike. Twila jumped involuntarily when the Ralts in her arms cried out in sheer terror. That was all the creature needed. It leapt from the tree onto the ground, and this time it was Twila who screamed in terror. In front of them was a giant, very angry Ariados. Not only was it twice the size of any normal Ariados, it had huge pincers and angry yellow eyes. The Pokemon roared, causing Twila to panic and run. She didn't get very far when she tripped over a tree root, the tiny Ralts tumbling out of her arms.
Twila tried to stand, but the tangle of roots seemed to grab at her feet, making her fall back to the ground. Panicked, she turned to find the large creature almost standing right over her, its yellow eyes staring at her hungrily. She crawled away from it, only to back herself into a tree. The Ariados tensed, and Twila knew it was about to attack her. Possibly kill her. The Pokemon lunged, and Twila shut her eyes tight, not wanting to know when it would all end. But it didn't end. Why didn't it end? She opened her eyes to a horrific sight. The Ralts she had saved had jumped in front of her, taking the blow that was meant for her. Growling, the giant Ariados turned and melted into the night. Twila didn't stop to think; she opened up her backpack, took out a green Pokeball, and tapped the Ralts on the head. Within seconds the light on the ball went out, but Twila didn't notice. She was running with all her might back to Sandgem Town.
Professor Rowan was just about to head home for the night when Twila burst through the front doors of the lab. "Professor Rowan! Professor!" she shouted, running towards him with a very worried look on her face.
"My dear, what happened?" Rowan asked as Twila ran up to him holding the green Pokeball. She pushed the button, releasing the Ralts inside of it. Twila picked it up, holding it close; she could feel its ragged breathing. Rowan gasped and took the small, weak Pokemon, heading for the lab's clinic. "How did this happen?" he asked as the residing nurse took the Ralts and began examining it. Twila told the Professor what happened. At the end of her tale, Professor Rowan shook his head and said, "I don't know why that Ariados attacked you. I'm not even sure why it was even here. There haven't been any sightings of Ariados around here. Ever." The two kept talking about this until the nurse came back. She looked very worried, which only made Twila more anxious.
"She hasn't suffered any major injuries from the attack," she said, "but…it does seem like she's been poisoned awfully badly. She'll be in a coma until we can administer a remedy."”
Twila looked at the nurse hopefully, "So where's this remedy? Come on, let's see some administering here!"”
The nurse turned, bowed her head apologetically and said, "Since there has never been any sightings of Ariados around here, we don't have the antidote." Twila hung her head, tears misting up her eyes and clouding her vision. Seeing this, the nurse quickly added, "But I do know where to look for it. There's a plant in the newly formed region of Furoh. It's green and leafy, has no flowers, and smells faintly like mint. It has been used by many people to cure various poisons. This plant will cure your Ralts." Twila sighed in relief, then paused as she realized what the nurse had just said. That Ralts was hers. She caught that Ralts! Albeit not in the way she thought she would, but she still caught her! This thought only made her more determined to find that plant and bring it back.
"I'll go and find that plant," she said determinedly, "She's my Pokemon, and I've always wanted to go on an adventure. I'll find that plant and bring it back so she can get better."”
Professor Rowan sighed, then turned back to the desk that he had gotten Twila's Pokedex from. However, when he turned back around, he wasn't holding a parcel, but a black Pokeball with yellow stripes. He handed the Pokeball to Twila and said, "This Pokemon should be able to protect you in Furoh. I've heard that there's a powerful crime organization over there, and I don't want you getting hurt." Twila glanced at Professor Rowan curiously.
"You said that you gave away all of your starter Pokemon earlier today."
"I did," Rowan said, "This Pokemon isn't a typical starter Pokemon. Open the Pokeball and see for yourself. But be careful, she's very stubborn, and doesn't respect just any trainer." Twila shrugged and opened the ball, the red light turning into a small, blue rabbit-like Pokemon.
The Pokemon looked up at Twila with red eyes and growled "Nidoraaaan!" Twila blinked down at the little creature. How could something so cute have so much mean in it? She sighed and returned the Nidoran to her Pokeball, the little rabbit glaring at her all the while.
"Thanks," she said, "but I could just catch my own Pokemon. I mean, I do have my masterpiece."
Rowan frowned and furrowed his brow, "Yes, about that. I was hoping that you might leave that here." Before Twila could protest, he added, "It would give you a very unfair advantage against other Trainers. Also, the crime organization in Furoh could be anywhere and anyone. I don't want to see it fall into the wrong hands." Twila tried to protest, but the professor's reasons were sound. In the end she reluctantly handed the black and blue Pokeball over to Rowan, who placed it in a drawer in his desk and locked the drawer with a key. After a few minutes of trying to get the Professor to change his mind, Twila said farewell and walked out of the lab.
"Wait!" Twila jumped and turned around. The nurse was running towards her, a Pokeball in her hands. Before Twila could ask what she was doing, the blue-haired nurse pressed the ball into her hands. "Please, I want you to take this Pokemon too," she said, "Despite what the Professor said, I think that this Pokemon will serve you better where protection is concerned." Twila opened the Pokeball, and out came a small, chubby yellow Pokemon with black glove-like hands.
It turned and smiled at Twila, a happy "Maku-makuhita!" escaping its mouth. Twila smiled at him, then recalled him back into his Pokeball.
"Thank you," she said to the nurse, "I'll be back soon, and then you can have him back-"“
"No no, he's yours!" she said, waving her hands at Twila, "I can't take care of him like I want to, but you can. I want you to have him." Twila thanked the nurse, and with a determined look on her face, set out to find the cure for her Ralts. Starting Pokemon: Kirlia (F) (click to showhide) Name: Mai Level: 20 Nature: Modest Anomalies: none Personality: Mai is very small - half the size of normal Kirlia - but it is an improvement from being no bigger than a Magnemite when she was a Ralts. She loves being taller, feeling a newfound sense of courage from it. She is very connected to Twila, and is beginning to develop a mental link with her trainer. She can send emotions, pictures and even a few words through the link to Twila, but can't figure out how to form complete sentences and send them over. As said in the PM, you can't start with Ralts. You have to "catch" it.
Egg move is fine.
Add the things mentioned in your latest PM. I'll go through the bio later.

OK, I've taken a closer look and I have a few problems with this.
1. When RPing, please space out your posts for easier reading. While big posts are great, a bunch of text crammed together (like your bio) is headache-inducing. You do not want to give a headache to the mod grading your RPs. As a general rule, each person's dialogue is a paragraph. Press the enter bar twice when starting a new paragraph. It makes reading much easier.
2. I like the "ralts gets poisoned" storyline, but not the giant unknown tarantula pokemon. Please stick to canon pokemon only; 5th gen has not been introduced into this RP yet.
3. I am extremely wary of the custom pokeballs, especially the one that "has a 99.9% catch rate, heals the Pokemon caught in it, and makes it grow more friendly and obedient towards its trainer." We don't even allow master balls. As an alternative, how about Twila is a pokeball artist? She would design covers on regular pokeballs (or great, ultra, etc).

Great, but I still don't like the custom balls. You sure she can't be an artist? I'll get another mod in here for a another opinion.

The Pokeballs don't make capturing any easier (save for the black and blue one, but she doesn't have that one with her), they just meet the needs of specific types of Pokemon. A regular Pokeball, for instance, is just a normal ball that can be used on any Pokemon, but is generic and doesn't do anything for the Pokemon inside of it. However, the pokeballs that Twila has tinkered with have special accomodations for specific types of Pokemon. Take a fire-type Pokemon for instance. The fire-typed pokeball can heat up on the inside to make the Pokemon more comfortable, yet stay cool on the outside so as not to burn the trainer's hand. The water-typed ball is moist on the inside to keep water Pokemon refreshed. The ice-typed ball is freezing on the inside to keep ice-type Pokemon from burning up. You get the idea, yes?
Twila is a great mechanic. That is one thing about her that is special to me, and the one thing that I think seperates her from other characters. I'd like for her to stay that way.

Yo.
For me, custom Pokeballs are not a problem but you should be aware that to make things realistic, we have to consider her profession when/if you decide for Twila to take part in Gyms/Contests. Being an apparently VERY SKILLED mechanic, she clearly has not had a great deal of time to build up any training experience. As such, I would expect for her to perform no more than averagely in battles and so you may have difficulty getting Badges/Ribbons. I'm not saying it is impossible, just harder.
