Getting off the boat was like a breath of fresh air for Alex. Looking into the sunset, he felt that what had happened on the S.S. Lady of Furoh had been a sign of great things to come in this region. Already Alexander's adventures in this new world were unfolding, and he was ready from what was ahead of him. This was the beginning of his first adventure.

Stepping onto the dock, the first thing Alexander heard was "Welcome to Port Barley, Furoh!", spoken by one of the crew members who was holding the small bridge between the boat and the dock. Stepping onto the wooden surface, Alexander looked out into the ocean and gazed towards the horizon. Wingulls danced through the air as Tentacool and Horsea swam about in the clear blue waters. A small pack of Wailmer and Wailord could be seen in the distance, jumping in and out of the water. He had heard Port Barley was an amazing Wailmer watching site, and so far that had proved to be true. Had he not been aware of the others waiting to get off the boat, he would have stayed there the rest of the day watching in awe.

Moving along, Alexander was stopped briefly to answer a few questions, standard procedure in most regions. He stated that his name, age, and hometown to the official, and then gave the official his Pokedex to be checked. After the small exchange was over, Alexander was let off the dock and stepped into Port Barley.

Right away, the vibrant mood of Port Barley was visible. Alexander had stepped off the dock and onto the famous Barley Boardwalk, a bustling wooden walkway that streched across Port Barley's beaches. Souvenir shops, food carts, and beach-side hotels stretched onward past Alexander's view. Crowds of people moved along the Boardwalk, tourists and trainers alike mixed into the crowd. A few pokemon tagged along with their masters, keeping up with them as they waded through the mass of people.

Alexander wished he had time to explore now, but first he needed to find the Pokemon Center and book a room for the night, as well as get himself oriented as far as what was next in the journey. Pulling a map of Port Barley he had bought on the boat, Alexander found the Pokemon Center was only a few minutes away from where he was. All he had to do was walk west along the Boardwalk until he found Pearl Street, turn right onto it and looked for the Pokemon Center on his left. Putting the map back in his bag, he got himself together and began to walk.

“Haha! Mercury, that’s not what that’s for!” A trainer brushed platinum blonde hair behind his ear and chased a Seel wearing an inflatable tube around its head. The Seel jumped into the ocean and swam out in deep water, allowing the inflatable tube to float off her head away into the ocean. Her trainer was busy at the shore, laughing as he ran from waves crashing upon the sand, trying to get as wet as little as possible.

A small Chikorita ran towards him and the game of avoiding waves soon became a game of tag. People nearby cast curious glances in their direction, wondering what was going on. As the trainer’s feet flew from the ground, sand was flung onto nearby loungers. A Bulbasaur relaxing on a towel nearby grimaced as the tiny granules flew into his face and responded by using his vines to pick up the boy and hold him over the water.

“Haha! No, Kyo! No!” The trainer struggled against his Pokémon’s vines, laughing all the while. “I don’t want to get wet! Haha!” The Bulbasaur closed its eyes and smiled as his vines slowly loosened over the water. The trainer found himself falling a few feet into the water, holding his nose as he dropped. A platinum blonde stump rose out of the water and slowly waded to the shore. The stump picked up speed and the rest of the trainer rose and was eventually seen riding a Seel around the shore. The Chikorita was jumping on the shore, eagerly awaiting her trainer.
“Mercury, swim over to Chiki, she wants a ride.” The Seel redirected its course and crashed into the beach. Koryu hopped off and the Chikorita took his place. A Pidgey flew over to the Trainer with a towel and dropped it on his head. He looked through the hair covering his head and smiled as thanks.
The trainer sat next to his Bulbasaur and watched his Pokémon play. He looked up to the Pidgey resting on a blue and white umbrella, “Viera, won’t you play?” The bird looked down at him and glared. “I’ll take that as a no…”

~~~
About an hour later, Koryu Hiroki closed the door to his room and walked through the Pokémon Center. He cleaned up and decided that an afternoon stroll on Barley Boardwalk would be nice. His Pokéballs were clipped to his belt, as he didn’t want to have to carry around his huge messenger bag. He straightened out his white vest and smoothed his hair out into his desired style and walked out of the Center, feeling the black threads of his outfit absorb the heat from the blazing Barley sun.
"Oh maaaaaaan, my back is killing me!" near the entrance of Barley a lone guy stretched his body after hours of travelling on a bumpy road inside a bus. It was a beautiful day, clear sky and a slight breeze in the port city. Gazing upon the horizon, Tyson could see the huge ocean, ports, buildings, but the most important, restaurants. Food was the only thing he had in mind right now after hours of travelling. When Tyson left from Arasam it was about six o'clock in the morning before descending the mountain on foot and reaching the bus departing to Barley. Now near high noon and all packed up Tyson headed into the city, two Pokeballs gripped on his belt and the rest packed in his backpack.
~~~

The Boardwalk was full of people rushing from side to side, shacks selling various items and snacks or even random people playing random instruments to earn some money. Tyson reached his pocket and took out his black Pokegear with silver adornments and checked the digital map of Barley. Targeting mainly restaurants or snack-bars Tyson navigated through the map before he gave up and slipped the device back into his pocket.

"Well, I really don't want to do this but desperate times call for desperate solutions.. Oh well, come out, boy" Tyson was now holding a Pokeball in his hand that soon summoned an Hippopotas with a flash of light. The Hippopotas sniffed the air and let out a "Poooooootas!" before slowly making his way through the Boardwalk. People gave out curiosity looks, some of them even softly laughing at the leading Pokemon who soon stopped near a shack. Tyson looked at the price tablet, returned the Hippopotas and left while some "God damn it"'s and "Holy crap"'s came out of his mouth.

"Know what? I give up. I'm just going to the Pokecenter, book a room for the night and try to find a decent and cheap shack." now back with the map in hand Tyson headed for the Pokecenter, stomach growling louder than when he arrived.

Inching through the mass of people, Alexander slowly made progress through the sea of tourists visiting the Boardwalk. The chatter from the crowd surrounded Alexander entirely, snippets of the conversations entering Alexander's ear. The talking had a variety of subjects, including the weather, Pokemon breeding techniques, where certain people were from, and a variety of other subject.

A variety of smells wandered about as well. Exotic foods from as far away as Kanto and Oblivia could be bought from food carts strategically placed throughout the Boardwalk, with food stands ranging from the commonplace to the completely foreign all placed within 100 feet of one another on the wooden walkway.

It wasn't long before a bright blue sign marking "Pearl Street" was visible to Alex. Taking a left, Alexander walked away from the bustling boardwalk and into the less-crowded section of the city. Not to say that Pearl Street was not crowded, but it was significantly easier to walk around once Alexander made the right turn.

Continuing on his route, Alexander passed Wailmer Way and Blue Ave. before finding the Pokemon Center, which Alexander found was significantly larger than the Battle Frontier's just by looking at it. This was probably due to the large amount of starting trainers that found themselves in the city, so Alexander hoped that the Pokemon Center would have an actual room available.

Walking towards the automatic sliding doors, they opened up as he entered while another blonde trainer in a white vest walked by him. Walking into the lobby, Alexander did not hesitate at finding the service desk and it's Nurse Joy. The lobby was slightly less crowded than Alexander had expected it to be, and he took this as a good sign. However that might have been the case since most trainers were still out on the Boardwalk, and since there were so many people on the Boardwalk, that was the more likely case.

The lobby itself looked like a standard Pokemon center. A few sofas and chairs were placed around the lobby, and a few TVs were hanging on the walls in the room. The TVs were set to Channel 4 News by default, and currently they were running a few articles about recent contests. The atmosphere overall was very calming, which was a welcome change of pace from the incident with the thief. Alexander had never seen a Pokemon Center other than the one back home at the Battle Frontier, so the experience was very new to him.

Walking over to the desk, Alexander was happy to find that there was no line and that he could skip the wait. Ringing a small bell placed on the counter twice, Alexander waited for the Nurse Joy to arrive. Alexander noticed a small floral bouquet with yellow and red roses placed at the Service Desk, which was a nice addition to the clean and calming aesthetic of the Center.

"Hello, how may I help you?", came the voice of Barley's Nurse Joy, bringing Alexander's attention back to the present.

"Yes, I would like to reserve a room for the night", Alexander replied, taking out his Trainer I.D. The Nurse smiled and nodded politely, before typing in some information on a computer behind the counter.

"Yes, we have a room for you. I hope you don't mind sharing a room with three others, because all of the single-person rooms have been taken", the Nurse replied.

It was an OK situation for Alexander. Sure, he had to share it with strangers, but it beat not having a room at all. Besides, it would be a good way to meet new people.

"I'll take it", Alexander told the Nurse. She then proceeded to open a small drawer and take out a small silver key, and handed it to Alexander.

"Your room is on the second floor, number 12. Have a nice day", the Nurse told Alexander.

"You too", Alexander said grasping the key. The metal felt a little cold from being stored away in a drawer, so he put it in his pocket and stepped over to a nearby elevator. Pressing the single UP button, Alexander waited for the elevator to arrive.

Drei-Anne was already in the Pokemon Center room she had asked for. There were two bunk beds and two bed stands, each with a small lamp and a notepad and pen in the drawers. She had turned only one of the lamps on and ignored the overhead light so that it was dim enough for her to see.

Finnegan placed her berry pouch and sketchbook in the bottom drawer of the bed stand closest to the bed she had picked out. She decided as soon as she'd entered that she'd sleep on the bottom bunk, for fear that she'd fall off. She put her tote bag next to the bed stand in between it and the bed. "Finnegan," she looked down at her Nincada friend. "I'll need that notepad. Give me it, please." She said while making sure her bed was tidy. He gave it to her with his usual blank expression. Drei wasn't even sure if Nincada could show emotion, but she was pretty sure it was just Finnegan. He handed the notepad to her and she politely took it from him. She got up and turned off the lamp before closing the door behind her.

Once she was done getting her stuff ready, she rinsed her hands and face in the bathroom and made Finnegan do the same. She was pretty particular about having clean hands before she went out. She made sure to grab her sketchbook, pencils, and her sunglasses before heading downstairs. "You ready, Finn?" She crouched down to pet his head a little. He nodded as he made a small 'tsk' sound and fluttered his small wings in agreement. She put her shades on and headed towards the elevator.

Drei-Anne made a small mental list of what she'd like to do here. She wanted to map out important places to shop and eat at the boardwalk for the next day because she was sure that she couldn't get to all the good places in the remaining daylight she had. She wanted to buy a few more Poke Balls and get some food before she went exploring this new land. She also wanted to see what the people were like here compared to the other places she'd been.

Koryu watched people bustle down the street. A woman chased her Skitty down the lane as a boy wearing a baseball hat over his curly hair entered the pokemon center.
Koryu walked down the street, paying no attention to his surroundings. He could hear younger children gasp when he walked by, being a full 2 feet taller than them, he wasn’t surprised. He cast a smile their way and continued until he reached the Boardwalk.

Vendors along the border between the beach and the walkway advertised as loudly as possible. One stand caught his eye. He ran to the vendor and could only just stoop before hitting the vendor. The woman stood shocked; bewildered mostly with the transition of his bright blue eyes to the shimmering green in the shade, but his interest in the plants had something to do with it as well.

Koryu eyed hungrily over each plant, making sure to rub his fingers gently over each leaf and smell each petal.
“These are beautiful! Where did you get them?!” He never made eye contact, as his eyes were focused on low growing mosses and large green and gold flowers.
“Um, they- they’re just from around Furoh. We, my family and I, collect them as we travel.” Koryu looked up, done observing the plants in their ornamental post and saw a young woman with green eyes holding her hands around her body, looking awfully nervous and worried.
“Do you have any seeds of these plants?” Koryu asked while looking around the brochures, hoping to find a little packet with a flower name written on it.
The woman took her right arm and hesitantly reached under the counter and retrieved a handful of seeds. “How many of what would you like?”

~~~
Koryu hummed down the boardwalk, shoving himself between the occasional crowds. He took note of restaurants as he strolled, in the mood for a fancy meal, but not too pricey. He saw one resting on what seemed to be a tiny cliff, at the end of the building there was a 10 foot drop into the water. He looked at its outside menu and looked at some dishes. It looked nice enough, and was decided as a good place to eat.
The plastic bag full of other plastic bags full of seeds spun in the air, as Koryu had a tendency of testing centripetal force. He noticed a spiky-haired boy eyeing over shacks, checking prices of meals. The boy eventually gave up and walked in the direction of the Pokémon center. Out of a feeling of necessity, Koryu checked his back pocket for his wallet. The pocket was empty.
"Huh, must've forgotten it at the room..." He grabbed his room key and went back to the Pokémon center, taking long strides to stretch out his legs.
“At least I can put away these seeds…”
Alexander waited for a few minutes, standing still as the number representing the floor the elevator was on went from 4 to L, for lobby. The doors then slid open, the inside of the elevator empty. Glad he wouldn't have to wait for everyone else to get out, he stepped over the one-inch gap into the mahogany-walled elevator. The doors shut behind him, and Alexander found the button panel. Pressing the "2" button, Alexander jumped a bit as the elevator shifted. Alexander waited for a few seconds as some elevator music played in the background. There was an advertisement for the Battle Dome here, which interested Alex somewhat.
Alexander was here to earn badges, but the Pokeathlon challenge was something Alex wanted to try as well. He had seen one of the matches broad-casted on Channel 4 while he had been sailing to Furoh, and the idea itself appealed to Alex. Furthermore, the Pokeathlon could help strengthen and train his Pokemon for battles, which was never a bad thing.
The elevator door interrupted Alexander's train of thought when it opened to the second floor. A dark red carpet lined the hallways, and right outside the elevator there was a small bouquet similar to the one on the service desk. There was also a small seat and a mirror outside the elevator, and overall it looked like a nice place to relax.
Alexander took no time in finding his room. He passed a girl walking towards the elevator on the way, who had a Nincada following her. Following Nurse Joy's instructions, he found room 12 in a few seconds. Pulling the key out of his pocket, he placed the key inside the keyhole and twisted the knob. The door opened up, and pushing in, Alexander opened up to the small room.
Just as Nurse Joy had said, there were two bunk beds, four beds total. He already knew he would be sharing a room, since a small bag lay on top of one of the beds. Alexander decided to unpack on the bottom-left bunk, dropping his bag down.
Koryu walked through the sliding doors to the Pokémon center, walking somewhat briskly in anticipation of retrieving his wallet. He walked by the front desk and was interrupted by Nurse Joy.
“Oh, Koryu! Your room had the only available beds, so you have two new roommates.” Koryu didn’t seem to be paying any attention to her, but he smiled and nodded, then walked off.
He opened the stairwell door, and started on his way up. He rather enjoyed taking the stairs more so than the elevator, usually because he had a tendency of pressing all of the buttons for no apparent reason. He saw a door marked two and pushed the door open, almost hitting a housekeeping woman.
He quickly, and awkwardly, apologized then walked down the hall to room 12.
Koryu brushed his hair back and reached into his vest pocket for the key. He twisted it to find that it had already been unlocked and proceeded to enter. The door swung open and he saw the boy he had noticed earlier, unpacking on the bed diagonal of the one he had chosen.
“Hey! I assume you must be one of my new roommates. I’m Koryu.” He said this crawling up the ladder of the right bunk bed and dumping out his bag’s components, shuffling stuff around while looking for his wallet.
Once he found it, he jumped off the ladder excitedly and turned around to face his roommate, slipping the wallet into his back pocket.
'Tsk.' Finnegan tugged on the back of Drei-Anne's jean's leg. "What is it, Finnegan? Did I forget something?" The Nincada nodded with his usual 'tssssk' sound and scurried into the bedroom. Drei-Anne sighed and leisurely walked towards the door, in no rush to get there.
As clumsy as she was, she tripped over her own feet and broke her shades when she hit the floor. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to keep out the fluorescent lighting. She grabbed the remains of it and eventually made it to her room. She tossed the fragments into the small garbage bucket near the door and shuffled over to her bag. She grabbed her spare pair of glasses from her tote bag and put them on, finally able to relax her eyelids and see.
Drei flinched a bit, just now noticing the two guys in the room. She shuddered. She knew she'd have to share rooms, but she absolutely hated the idea. 'Tsk.' Finnegan had a hold of her wallet in his mouth. "...Oh, right. My wallet..." She turned and took it from him, calming her nerves. "Thanks, Finn."
Finally inside the Pokecenter, Tyson took the chance to release Lícia from her Pokeball. Even though the Chikorita wasn't too fond of being inside the device it knew that, for the sake of convenience, it was better than slowing her trainer down. Within a second the Leaf Pokemon was out of her ball and sighing with relief that the journey from Arasam to Barley was successful.
Reaching the counter, Tyson asked if there was any free rooms, though with the crowd he saw on the streets he highly doubted it. After checking, the nurse directed him to a room on the second floor that he had to share with three others and gave him the last key available. No big deal for Tyson.
^^^
Tyson spun the key to the left twice and tried to open the door. After realizing that he had just locked the door and Lícia sighing again he spun the key to the opposite direction and finally got in, immediately noticing that the other three people were already on the room.
"Looks like the gang is already here, uh?" he said while putting his bag down and looking around. By the looks of it, Tyson was left with the top bed, something he didn't mind at all, even though he had a tendency to move a lot during the night. Lícia, on the other hand, found a nice spot by the bed Tyson was going to sleep and practically claimed it as hers.
"Name's Tyson, people. Sorry for kinda crashing into the party."
Alexander was surprised by the creaking of the door and the sound of footsteps, turning around, he saw the familiar face of a trainer he had seen earlier. Sweeping his shiny blonde hair off his face, the trainer walked in and introduced himself.
"Hey! I assume you must be one of my new roommates. I’m Koryu", the guy introduced himself as. He stepped onto the right bunk ladder and grabbed his wallet from off the bed. Alexander was about to introduce himself, but yet again another person entered into the room. This time it was a girl trainer followed by a Nincada. The dark-haired girl promptly dumped what appear to be the broken remainder of a pair of sunglasses into the rooms dump-bucket. She then proceeded to stumble around the room in search of another pair of glasses, which she put on. As she blinked at Alexander and Koryu, an expression of disappointment came over her face, as if Koryu and Alexander were foreigners from another planet whom she was being forced to room with.
The Nincada in the meantime had grabbed the girls wallet, and with a small 'Tsk', grabbed it's trainer's attention. After mumbling something Alexander couldn't make out, the girl went out of the room. Alexander then tried to make a comment, but yet another person came into the room, actually locking the door by accident, and then unlocking it. A silver-eyed trainer with long hair dropping onto his back entered the room, a Chikorita following close behind before jumping onto the last bed, practically claiming it.
"Looks like the gang is already here, uh?", the trainer began, addressing Alexander and Koryu. Alexander looked around, and realized in less than five minutes the room had filled with trainer's posessions, a bag now resting on every bed. Alexander was wondering if was coincidence that he had met all of his roommates within such a small span of time, or if there was some strange force acting in all of this.
"Name's Tyson, people. Sorry for kinda crashing into the party.", Tyson introduced himself as. Alexander held out his hand to shake with the other two present trainers, and introduced himself.
"The name is Alexander, pleased to meet you", he said, happy that the sentence wasn't interrupted this time. Smiling, he reached out for Koryu's hand first.
Koryu watched as people filled the room. He backed more and more towards the right bunk, trying to make room for the other trainers settling in. Tyson, the guy with long hair, introduced himself and so did the trainer Koryu had just met, Alexander, who reached out to shake Koryu’s hand. Koryu accepted, assuming he was the first to shake hands as he and Alexander were the first to meet.
Koryu reintroduced himself and thought to himself how strange it was that they did all seem to meet at the same time. The girl had yet to introduce herself, but she seemed rather upset with the boy’s presence. Koryu could only guess, but he assumed that he wouldn’t very much enjoy being the only girl in a room full of boys either. He climbed partially up the ladder and sat on a rung, figuring that it would allow more movement in the room.
He smiled and observed, noticing a Chikorita at Tyson’s feet. She seemed to act similar to Chiki, so once they met, it would be rather interesting. He remembered that he was still holding the bag of seeds and tossed them on his bed amongst his pile of stuff.
She watched as the other trainers introduced themselves, being pretty friendly and social. She almost always felt out of place, including now. I cant help it, she decided. It's how I've always been.
Finnegan bit her leg. She winced, but knew what the bug-type was trying to say. She knew that she'd have to interact with them sooner or later. She pushed Finn to the side, seeing that all of her room mates were boys. She could barely talk to people, much less males.
"Eh..." She hesitated. She knew that the Nincada was getting annoyed with her childish ways. "My name's Drei-Anne, and this is Finnegan." She said, not really sure if she should have introduced her Pokemon or not, but he agreed with her statement, uttering a 'happy' tssssk sound.
Koryu took Alex's hand with a firm grip, and grinning somewhat, Alexander shook with the trainer. As he did this, the Chikorita from earlier had now run to Tyson's feet, the antsy pokemon running in circles around his legs. Deciding his pokemon could use some time out of their own pokeballs, Alexander grabbed Treeko's ball and enlarged it using the white button on the front. The marble sized ball grew into a metallic capsule the size of a baseball, which Alexander opened up to reveal his Treecko. Looking back at the door, Alexander realized that the girl hadn't left yet, and that her and the Nincada were still in the room.
"Eh...", she began, clearly shy about sharing the room with three other guys, "My name's Drei-Anne, and this is Finnegan."
Alexander looked at the green-eyed bug, who looked back at Alex and twitched it's whiskers a bit. When she introduced him as Finnegan, the Nincada let out a little buzz of sort in approval.
"Well, this is my Treecko here", said Alex, looking for the salamander. He found it approaching the Chikorita, probably wanting to play. Alexander, now acquainted with his involuntary roommates, was interrupted in his thought by the grumbling of his stomach. He hadn't exactly finished his meal after the incident, but he hadn't really noticed his stomach's emptiness until now.
"Hey, you guys want to go out and get some grub. I'll foot the bill if anyone's interested", he offered. He knew he didn't have unlimited amount of money on his person, but he was feeling good today. He could probably find an inexpensive place to eat in Barley anyways, so it wouldn't hurt him much, just as long as he didn't eat at some fancy restaurant where the soup is expensive. Looking around, he waited for others to take up the offer.
Dream Party
When the Treecko appeared and became interested in the Chikorita, Koryu was ready to release his Pokémon, but the room was cramped. He decided he would release Chiki when he got outside. The Nincada on the other hand, was quite interesting to Koryu. He wasn’t too fond of bugs, but this one was rather… cute. The Nincadas trainer seemed to be at peace with her new roommates and introduced herself. Koryu was glad; he didn’t want to get annoyed with someone so soon.
Koryu perked up as he heard that Alexander was ready for lunch. He had warmed up quite quickly to his group and got excited.
“I know just the place!” He began jumping up and down in place his hair slowly enveloping his face, already ready to go. He brushed his hair to the side and began to speak again, “Out on the boardwalk was a nice restaurant. We could order take out and eat somewhere else if you’d like.” Koryu had begun flipping through his Pokégear for listings of the area. He frowned once he realized that he knew nothing of the restaurant other than it looked “quaint”.
“Oh well, I’ll just take us there. Viera might have to help us though, as I have no sense of direction.” He laughed as he said the last sentence, knowing it was inconvenient, but not really caring as he didn’t mind the walk anyway. He leaned out the window and released a Pidgey. It was somewhat small, but looked rather fierce. She scowled as she frantically flapped her wings, as her careless trainer released her in midair. Koryu turned back to the group, “This is Viera. She’s rather… maternal, so try not to get into trouble when she’s around, she bites… Viera, no.” Koryu had returned his attention and noticed her eyeing the bug Pokémon.
Wishing to avoid any arguments over eaten Pokémon, he told Viera to look for a restaurant along the boardwalk on a cliff, somewhat large, faded blue roof, and located on a mini-cliff. The bird Pokémon turned around and flew off in the direction of the Boardwalk. “She’s reliable though. Once we get downstairs, she’ll be there with directions.” He smiled warmly and continued to jump up and down. It had been a while since Koryu had sustenance that he hadn’t made himself, as he typically borrowed the Pokécenters kitchen to make meals.
“If it’s pricier than I had thought, I have no problem paying with Alex.” Koryu looked at Alexander hoping not to get a negative reaction from the curly-haired boy. He ran into the bathroom and splashed water on his face, grabbed a towel and dried it off, ridding oil and dirt from his face.
“I guess this towel’s mine. I’ll toss it over the shower rod.” He smiled and left the bathroom, turning off the light and joined the group to leave them shortly after. I guess If you guys are ready, we can head down.”
Right away Koryu responded to Alexander's invite, perking up as soon as food was mentioned.
“I know just the place! Out on the boardwalk was a nice restaurant. We could order take out and eat somewhere else if you’d like", he offered, looking through his Poke-gear. Alex knew that the multi-purpose device was sold in Johto and Kanto, meaning that Koryu was from the faraway region. The Pidgey Koryu released also gave this away, giving Alex a broader understanding of the variety of people in Furoh. Alexander was used to variety, since he lived at the Hoenn's Battle Frontier most of his life, but he was surprised that a person had come this far to start a trainer journey. Just like Alexander, Koryu was a great distance from home.
“This is Viera. She’s rather… maternal, so try not to get into trouble when she’s around, she bites… Viera, no.”, Koryu stated about the Pidgey. Wondering why Koryu had reprimanded the "Tiny Bird" Pokemon, it took less than a second to notice the Pidgey eying the Nincada. Koryu immediately sent Viera away in order to prevent the likely predatory bloodbath that was about to occur, and then looking out the window, waited for the brown bird to fly back.
“She’s reliable though. Once we get downstairs, she’ll be there with directions. If it’s pricier than I had thought, I have no problem paying with Alex.”, Koryu continued about the bird. Alexander himself wanted to catch a flying pokemon, perhaps a local Wingull hanging out by the docks. Not to would certainly help to gain a pokemon effective against grass, fighting, and bug types. Alexander would see if he would catch one later on, maybe after the group left the restaurant.
"It's not a big problem. I can handle the payment", Alexander told Koryu. He wanted to be a good host, and part of that was to pay for the meal. It was the courteous thing to do.
Koryu walked over to the bathroom and then splashed some water over his face. The hiss of running water and then the faucet being shut off could be heard from the bathroom, and then Koryu dried his face with one of the towels.
“I guess this towel’s mine. I’ll toss it over the shower rod. If you guys are ready, we can head down.”, Koryu said, finishing off. Alexander nodded and made sure to take note of which towel was Koryu's, before following behind him. Treecko, who had been playing with Chiki during the exchange, followed after his trainer and jumped onto Alexander's shoulder.
The girl introduced herself and soon after, Alexander and Koryu began talking about food. In a blink of an eye, Tyson's second Pokeball opened itself and and Hippopotas materialized on the carpet floor. One of the many nasty habits of Tyson's Hippopotas was the fact that, if food was mentioned, he would release himself out of the Pokeball to grab a bite. With a lazy "Poooootas" the Hippo Pokemon crawled to where Tyson was and opened his huge mouth waiting for the food.
"Right... Guys, this is Gobi. I'll pay his share, don't worry." Tyson was worried with his money, especially with all that Gobi eats. It'll probably cost more than the total of the trainers' bill. He sighed and returned the Hippopotas with a single "Later.".
By the looks of it Koryu knew a good place to grab a snack and, with the prices he had seen, Tyson didn't really cared who picked the restaurant since his stomach was starting to growl even louder. Grabbing his wallet from the backpack and alerting Lícia, Tyson was ready to go out and eat something decent since he left from the mountain city.
"Well, I'm ready to go. Are you sure you can pay it all?" Tyson asked Alexander, willing to help him pay if necessary along with Koryu.
As soon as the food was mentioned, a large sand-beast popped out of Tyson's pokeball. The large pokemon opened it's gaping maw, expecting some sort of treat from Tyson. Clearly it had overheard the conversation between the four while it was in the pokeball, but had come out too early.
"Right... Guys, this is Gobi. I'll pay his share, don't worry.", Tyson told the others, returning the beige-colored hippo back to it's ball. Alexander was relieved by Tyson's statement about Gobi's meal, since the pokemon looked ready to run Alex dry out of money.
"Well, I'm ready to go. Are you sure you can pay it all?", Tyson asked one more time. Alexander was surprised the guys were concerned about the free meal, so he reassured them he would pay for it.
"Relax, I have enough money to pay for a meal. It's my first day in Furoh anyways, so I might as well celebrate", Alexander told the others, as he held out the door waiting for Drei-Anne. Expecting her to follow them, he saw she was in deep thought about something and was staying in the room.
"Well, we're going out, but if you want to tag along, just send a pokemon to find us. We will be at a cliffside restaurant", Alexander told her, and then he headed out.
...Food?
When the topic was mentioned her stomach rumbled. She hadn't eaten in a while. She usually ate only one meal and a few snacks throughout the day (mainly because her Pokemon had to remind her to eat), and she only had a few berries since she had woke up on the boat.
Koryu apparently knew where to go, and sent out a Pidgey to go scout it out. Finn didn't even know that the bird had a keen idea in eating him, but he didn't notice, in his usual blank state. A good sized brown hippo-thing came out of it's ball, string at it's trainer. Drei-Anne had seen them before in Sinnoh, but she had never learned the name of the creature. "Poooootas" It said as it opened its large mouth. Obviously, hearing about food made it hungry. Tyson introduced it as Gobi and had decided to pay for whatever it ate. It can't be as bad as a Snorlax, though! Drei smiled to herself, remembering stories her father had told her about the giant Snorlax in Kanto.
Her Nincada prodded her with his brown appendage, 'tsk-ing' as he did so. He looked over at the boy standing near the door. She had kind-of zoned out, like she usually did when listening. That was one reason why she had Pokemon - to help her with interaction. "Well, we're going out, but if you want to tag along, just send a Pokemon to find us. We will be at a cliffside restaurant," Alex said before walking out the door. She parted her hair into halves and brought them to the front, making a kind-of scarf before putting on her white hoodie. Finnegan climbed onto her head and held on as she ran to the door yelling, "Agh! Hey! Wait for me!"
Right before Alexander began to shut the door, Drei seemed to snap out of the trance she had been in earlier. Parting her hair and putting on a white hoodie, she rushed to catch up with the three, who were now walking through the hallway.
"Agh! Hey! Wait for me!", she yelled as she bolted out of the room. Alexander turned around to see her coming down the corridor and smiled.
"Ah, so you finally decided to come with us", he said, "Well, let's not wait any longer. To our meals!", Alexander said, arriving at the elevator. Pressing the down button, Alexander plopped down on the comfy chair he had noticed earlier, and his Treecko nestled itself on his lap. Alex petted the green lizard, waiting for the elevator to arrive. The numbers counted down until level 2 was reached, and then the large metallic doors thrust open. Treecko hopped off Alex's lap, allowing him to stand up from the plush red chair and enter the elevator.
Glancing back at the Battle Dome poster, Alexander pondered again whether he should try it or not. Memorizing the address, he decided upon checking the place out once he was done eating. If he liked it, he could do Pokeathlons along with battling, but if not he would stick to gyms.
Alexander was holding the door for the others as he was thinking. Waiting for his new traveling companions to enter the elevator, he hummed a little improvised tune in the interim.
