GYM LEADER CHALLENGE

Part of the Battle Dojo is the Gym Leader Challenge. Users are able to compete against elite Battlers to earn the chance to become the Battle Dojo Champion. Users must challenge the Pokemon Gyms operated by the Battle Dojo and defeat Gym Trainer teams and the Gym Leader team to earn a badge. Once a user has earned all eight badges, they’ll be eligible to challenge our Elite Four and should they pass that test, the Battle Dojo champion!

In the Battle Dojo, Gyms are sorted by skill level and the teams are constructed by the Gym Leaders. The Pokemon may share a common type or they may just be the Gym Leader's favorites. It's up to the Gym Leaders. At the moment there are four Gyms, but more will be added later.

The Gym Leaders are as follows:
Erty- Physical Gym; Punch badge
Koffi- The Low Budget Gym; You Did It! Sticker badge
Dr Hawkins- Itzal gym; Nyxian badge
Eternal Flame- Eternal Gym; Flame badge

We are currently seeking applicants to serve as Gym Leaders for the vacant Gyms. If you would like to become a Gym leader, PM one of the Elite Four (see below), and they'll judge your capabilities. The quality they'll be looking for include the following: Battle strategy, Pokemon know-how, use of moves and items, and IV/Nature farming. Links to the Pokemon may be requested after the Battle.

To challenge a Gym Leader, you must send them a PM. Once the challenge has been accepted, it will be posted in the group so members can know and watch. If you defeat Gym Leader’s team you earn their badge. You can challenge the leaders in any order you wish, but it is recommended to start with the first if you are a new battler! Gym Leaders’ teams will be posted on the group page.

Once you have earned all the badges in the region, you may challenge the Elite Four, consisting of the following:

1. Venusaur King
2. Teen Heat
3. Sam
4. Doom Hunter

These teams should provide a greater challenge than the Gym teams. The Elite Four may be challenged in any order a member wish and members are free to use a different team against each member of the Elite Four.

The Elite Four will not list set teams, but they will list between 9 and 15 Pokemon that they may use; these will be listed on the group page. When a challenge is issued, the Elite Four member will select a team and that team will be then be used against the challenger in future battles. Keep in mind, the Elite Four may have a different team they use against you than for a different user, so be careful!

Finally, should you be able to defeat the Elite Four, you earn the right to challenge the current Battle Dojo champion. However, his identity is a secret! If you pass this ultimate test, you become the Battle Dojo champion and must defend your title by taking on the new challengers! Should you lose to the Champion, you must defeat the Elite Four once again to earn another challenge.

Gym Leader Challenge Rules
1. No one, challengers, Gym Leader, the Elite Four, or the Champion, may use Arceus.
2. Users may use a maximum of two of the same species of Pokemon per team.
3. Unintentional stalemates result in a draw. The use of Mean Look to intentionally stalemate is forbidden and may result in a penalty.
4. Quitting on a match counts as a loss. Excessive match quitting may result in a penalty.
5.These rules are subject to change by the group administrators.
6.New rules may be introduced at the discretion of the group administrators.
7. Posts must be on topic (questions about battling, posting active battles, etc.)
8. Decisions by Venusaur King and Doom Hunter are final. We are open to suggestions and feedback, but please, no arguing with the rules.

LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS

As the Battle Dojos main goal is to improve the battle capabilities of its members, the Elite 4 and Gym Leaders will be available to help our less experienced members in all aspects of battles! We are more than happy to explain tried and true concepts or possibilities for your favorite Pokemon. One place to start might be in Sam's "Battle Subway Guide":

But sometimes words are not sufficient-the easiest way to show is to battle! If you have a concept you want to see used in real battles, send one of the Elite 4 or a Gym Leader a PM asking them for a demonstration of a Pokemon or concept. As long as it is a reasonable request, we will do our best to set up a battle amongst ourselves, which you can view in the Active Battles tab, and discuss with us about it as well!

In addition, since the Gym Leaders and Elite 4 are not eligible to take the gym challenge themselves for obvious reasons, they are more than welcome to openly challenge other members of the 4, gym leaders, or even unranked members to battles! These may come at any time, with or without warning, through open challenge or PM. You are more than welcome to decline one of these challenges, and you do not have to give a reason. Should you accept, you may also choose to actively post the battle and a time for it, so that the whole Dojo can see your skills put to the test!

While winning one of these battles will not get you a badge or a shot at the Champion, there may be other rewards, including Sky Gifts and Trinkets!

CHALLENGING ANOTHER USER

The Battle Dojo is a friendly place for more than competition; any number of friendly battles may be had at any time! You may set up an open challenge via the group page, or notify a specific user of a challenge issued. If you choose the latter method, they are not forced to accept if they do not want to. If you wish, you may also contact an Elite 4 member or Gym Leader to watch over your battle and give both players tips on how to improve afterwards. And of course, war stories are always welcome, provided they are polite and courteous to both battlers.

Doom Hunter: Doom Hunter here! I've been battling since I hatched my first Abra, and never looked back. Personally, my team likes to revolve around finding a type advantage, buffing, and then singlehandedly sweeping teams. I do carry the occasional power striker, but I much prefer the slow buildup!

Well, the Battle Dojo is slowly getting new members. Congrats to us and to our new recruits!

So, with the group now having some life to it....we should do a little thing. I was thinking maybe a small round-robin tournament between the new members!

Here's what I'm thinking.

I'm thinking we have two round-robin pools: One with the new members, and one with the gym leaders/4. The 4 will moderate the members' matches, but I trust we have integrity for ours, right? Unless one or two members want to moderate ours.

Anyways, the winner of each pool then face each other in battle! The winner of the member pool will get a reward, and the winner of the whole tournament will also get a reward (unless I win, in which case I'll give half to the second place finisher). Thus, a leader/4 member may win the pool but get nothing, while a member might get double rewards!

And, I apologize, but the champion will not come out of hiding for this one, I already talked to him.

Figured I'd write a post in here. I wouldn't say I'm new to battleing, but I have fun with it. I kind of loose a lot, but at least I will get to meet some new friends while doing it. =3 If you'd like to challenge me, just send it via gpx. =3 I'll accept them all. It took some time, but the Gym Leaders have their teams together and are ready to accept challengers!

Members who want to attempt the Gym Leader challenge need to PM a challenge to one of the Gym Leaders and arrange a time for the battle. The Gym Leaders are Koffi, Erty, Eternal Flame, and Dr Hawkins. If any of the Gym Leaders are offline or unresponsive for a day or two, PM me and I'll fill in.

Gym Leaders: When you receive a challenge, you need to set up a time and you need to post on the group page so we can watch the fight! If you know you're going to be unavailable for a bit, PM me or Doom Hunter so we can let everyone know.

Members of the Elite Four can challenge Gym Leaders, but it would just be for fun. Members of the Elite Four can't earn badges.
