Klonoa 2 - Hyuponia - Ruin of Sadness
A hauntingly sad song, this song plays on the final level, and is extremely symbolic of Klonoa passing through the epitome of sorrow. The song holds different pieces of Klonoa 1's soundtrack, popping in and out of a disturbing beat with a familiar whistle covering it. Anyone who's played Klonoa 1 and saw this would find this song outright disturbing not only for Klonoa 2, but the entire series in general. I always held the headcanon that when Klonoa was passing through this place, something was always tugging at him, making him sad about...something. In reality, his mind was trying to remember his time in Klonoa 1. This song perfectly gets both the player sad about Klonoa's tragic life, and explains how Klonoa is feeling in a world of nothing but sadness. |

The whole soundtrack from the puzzle game, Color Zen. It's calming, and pleasant to listen to. And I happen to love electronic music.

Thanks to TPP doing Touhou Puppet Play, I've realized that THPP has AWESOME music. Considering that they had to account for GBA sound limitations, and all.
EDIT: I've been playing Hyrule Warriors: Legends a lot as of late, and the new tracks for the additional story arc in Legend Mode are INCREDIBLE. Especially the Earth and Wind Temples stage; it has a rock remix of Molgera Battle (LoZ: WW/WWHD), one of the Crowning Musics of Awesome of WW/WWHD. It starts out like the WW/WWHD version of the track, then gradually adds electric guitars until it's up to Epic Rocking levels of awesome. And the Forsaken Fortress level has a neat medley of a bunch of WW tracks, among them the Title Screen Theme and Dragon Roost Isle and I'm pretty sure there's more tracks that I can't really identify off the top of my head (It's been at least 2 years since I last played WWHD, mind you.) I've gotta mention Goemon here. Gorgeous Musical Castle Part 2 is definitely my favourite N64 song. The whole Goemon series has some awesome music and is really underrated.

Can't believe I never posted in here before, considering video game OSTs are basically my life.
Pretty much everything from the Ar tonelico, Surge Concerto, and NieR series. I'm the biggest sucker for the vocal style they've all got going on. I've heard a handful of people refer to the particular genre as neo-ethereal, but I'm not sure that's actually a thing or if someone just decided to make up a name for it. If I had to pick just one track from each of those: EXEC_HARMONIOUS/. from Ar tonelico EXEC_over.METHOD_SUBLIMATION/.~lamenza from Ar tonelico II Ec Tisia ~Tarifa~ from Ar tonelico Qoga Duo Waltz of the Rainbow Country from Ciel nosurge Class::CIEL_N_PROTECTA; from Ar nosurge The Ultimate Weapon from NieR The Tower from NieR: Automata From outside those big three: Hopes and Dreams from Undertale. I mean it's an obvious choice because it's Undertale, and like half the internet loves that game, but this entire battle was just? So good?? Hearing this song makes me emotional now. The Image Theme of Xenosaga II. lmao basically if it's sung in a conlang or idioglossia, and sounds pretty, I'm on it like a swarm of ants on a pile of sugar. In the Forest from Xenoblade X. Technically this isn't video game music since this version doesn't actually play anywhere in the game, but I like it much better than the one that does. NO.EX01 from Xenoblade X. Actually, I just nominate every single boss theme from that game because they're all amazing and they all suit the mood of their respective fights so well. Rock is Sponge from Rez. Best song for the best stage with the best boss. When that guitar riff kicks in, you know shit just got real. Calamari Inkantation from Splatoon. What a jam. Calling from TWEWY. I dunno, something about it just always lifts my mood. Blissade / Egregori from Drakengard 3. Nice vocals, one of the signature songs of my favorite character, good all around. I'm not typically a huge OST fan because I prefer voices in my music and most of them are instrumental, but one in particular that I really love is the Okage: Shadow King soundtrack, especially any of the town themes. But I realize it may be a style not everyone likes.
@YoRHa No9 Type S: I've never played Ar Tonelico myself, but I'm a big fan of Shikata Akiko's regular music. Do you like any more of hers, or just the orgel stuff? -------------------- |
