Pokémon Trainer Group: +Donors Posts: 9 Joined: 20-August 09 Member No.: 58 329 Favorites	Aw, 21st, you were close! That was my little buddy. I was going for an abstract elemental type of bauble. The 'comet' on the side is colored to represent the fire starters. The green blurb in the middle is a representation of bulbasaur and his fellow grass starters. I was contemplating on whether or not I should add some eyes and decided to anyway. And next to him is a little waterfall that turns into a river to honor the water types. I didn't do so great in my thread. But, I did manage some votes, which made me happy. And, I had a lot of fun making it, so that's all that matters. Thank you to those who voted for me! And good luck to those still in the competition! Bauble WIP (click to showhide) Putting this in a spoiler because it's a lot of text. (1) So I originally wanted to do a bauble of all of the games and their generations. So I hastily scratched down some different sections on colored them according to game/generation. Oh, my eyes! (2) I thought, just for the heck of it, that I would try to blend the colors a little bit anyway and just work from there. Nope, still ugly. (3) While fiddling around with the colors, I ended up turning the section in the middle (what was originally the gen three ruby sapphire and emerald) all green. The shape vaguely reminded me of a bulbasaur. (4) And that's when my new idea came to me. I'll design the starters! I've got bulba down, and I can have him outside. I recolored the gen four section to look like the sky. (5) I liked the way that the gen one section turned out. All I did was simply replace the blue with orange and it reminded me of a flaming comet. Ok, so fire type is all set. (6) I wanted bulba to be outside next to a river, so I recolored the gen two section at the bottom to look like water. But I was still stumped with the black/white part. (7) I was thinking of doing something relating to squirtle and his shell, but it wasn't coming out the way I wanted heh. So I thought, well, it's lumpy and I'll just turn it into a rock. And I added a waterfall/stream just because. --------------------

Yours could be really pretty, Mars, if the design had a greater contrast to the rest of the bauble. I mean, I can see that it's a snowflake and I can see you've shaded the snowflake in the same way as the rest of the bauble, which is commendable. But the colours are just too similar- I had to squint to be able to make out the snowflake at all. If the snowflake had been white or yellow, I think it could've done a little better, maybe. It's too bad about Gimp, but I'm just telling you this so you can improve, yeah? --------------------

I ended up making 4 different Baubles for this contest, 3 had too many colors, while my last one had the right amount, but here are one of my baubles I made. ( But didn't even make it to the submission part.)
